Leptogenesis is a class of scenarios where the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is produced from a lepton asymmetry generated in the decays of a heavy sterile neutrino. We explain the motivation for leptogenesis. We review the basic mechanism, and describe subclasses of models. We then focus on recent developments in the understanding of leptogenesis: finite temperature effects, spectator processes, and in particular the significance of flavor physics.

Leptogenesis is a class of scenarios in which the cosmic baryon asymmetry originates from an initial lepton asymmetry generated in the decays of heavy sterile neutrinos in the early Universe. We explain why leptogenesis is an appealing mechanism for baryogenesis. We review its motivations, the basic ingredients, and describe subclasses of effects, like those of lepton flavours, spectator processes, scatterings, finite temperature corrections, the role of the heavier sterile n...

The discovery of neutrino masses makes leptogenesis a very attractive scenario for explaining the puzzle of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. We present the basic ingredients of leptogenesis, explain the predictive power of this scenario (and its limitations), and describe recent theoretical developments.

This is a brief review on the scenario of baryogenesis through leptogenesis. Leptogenesis is an appealing scenario that may relate the observed baryon asymmetry in the Universe to the low-energy neutrino data. In this review talk, particular emphasis is put on recent developments on the field, such as the flavourdynamics of leptogenesis and resonant leptogenesis near the electroweak phase transition. It is illustrated how these recent developments enable the modelling of phen...

Baryogenesis via leptogenesis provides an appealing mechanism to explain the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe. Recent refinements in the understanding of the dynamics of leptogenesis include detailed studies of the effects of lepton flavors and of the role possibly played by the lepton asymmetries generated in the decays of the heavier singlet neutrinos $N_{2,3}$. In this talk I present a short review of these recent developments in the theory of leptogenesis.

This is an introductory review of the main features of leptogenesis, one of the most attractive models of baryogenesis for the explanation of the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The calculation of the asymmetry in leptogenesis is intimately related to neutrino properties so that leptogenesis is also an important phenomenological tool to test the see-saw mechanism for the generation of neutrino masses and mixing and the underlying theory beyond the Standard Model.

The origin of the asymmetry between matter and anti-matter of the Universe has been one of the great challenges in particle physics and cosmology. Leptogenesis as a mechanism for generating the cosmological baryon asymmetry of the Universe has gained significant interests ever since the advent of the evidence of non-zero neutrino masses. In these lectures presented at TASI 2006, I review various realizations of leptogenesis and allude to recent developments in this subject.

This thesis is devoted to some forefront issues in the field of leptogenesis. After reviewing the simplest picture where flavor effects are neglected and only the lightest right-handed neutrino contributes to the generation of asymmetry, we discuss in detail the importance of flavor effects, the possible relevance of quantum effects, as well as the role played by the heavier right-handed neutrinos.

This is a mini-review on the mechanism of leptogenesis, with a special emphasis on low-scale leptogenesis models which are testable in foreseeable laboratory experiments at Energy and Intensity frontiers. We also stress the importance of flavor effects in the calculation of the lepton asymmetry and the necessity of a flavor-covariant framework to consistently capture these effects.

We discuss how leptogenesis can explain the observed baryon asymmetry and summarize attempts of testing leptogenesis. We first perform estimates and discuss the main physics, and later outline the techniques that allow to perform precise computations.
