In this paper we have implemented quantum corrections for the Schwarzschild black hole metric using the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) in order to investigate the scattering process. We mainly compute, at the low energy limit, the differential scattering and absorption cross section by using the partial wave method. We determine the phase shift analytically and verify that these quantities are modified by the GUP. We found that due to the quantum corrections from the...
We study gravitational absorption effects using effective on-shell scattering amplitudes. We develop an in-in probability-based framework involving plane- and partial-wave coherent states for the incoming wave to describe the interaction of the wave with a black hole or another compact object. We connect this framework to a simplified single-quantum analysis. The basic ingredients are mass-changing three-point amplitudes, which model the leading absorption effects and a spect...

We analyze the thermodynamics of a black hole in a region that contains a global monopole in the framework of a particular class of a f(R) gravity. Specifically, we study the case in which df(R)/dR = F(R) is a power law function of the radial coordinate of the monopole spacetime, i.e., F(r) = 1 + \psi_n r^n, where \psi_n is the fine-tuned parameter corresponding to the f(R) gravity. We obtain explicit expressions for the local thermodynamic quantities of the black hole as a f...

We critically reexamine the gravitational scattering of scalar particles on a global monopole studied recently. The original investigation of Mazur and Papavassiliou is extended by considering different couplings of the scalar field to the space-time curvature and by varying the dimension of the space-time where the Klein-Gordon (KG) field lives. A universal behavior of the leading term in the scattering amplitude as a function of this dimension is revealed.

In this paper we focus on the partial wave method with the aim of exploring the scattering of massless scalar waves due to the noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole via Lorentzian smeared mass distribution. We determine the phase shift analytically in low-frequency limit and we show that the scattering and absorption cross section is modified. Specially, we show that in the low-frequency limit the scattering/absorption cross section has its value decreased when we increase ...

Massive scalar fields are considered in the gravitational field produced by a Schwarzschild black hole with a global monopole in $f(R)$ gravity. The exact solution of the radial part of the Klein-Gordon equation in this background is obtained and is given in terms of the general Heun functions. We apply the properties of the general Heun functions to study the Hawking radiation and the resonant frequencies of scalar particles.

We study the absorption of a massless scalar field by a static black hole. Using the continuity equation that arises from the Klein-Gordon equation, it is possible to define a normalized absorption rate $\Gamma(t)$ for the scalar field as it falls into the black hole. It is found that the absorption mainly depends upon the characteristics wavelengths involved in the physical system: the mean wavenumber and the width of the wave packet, but that it is insensitive to the scalar...

We present a study of scattering of massless planar scalar waves by a charged non-rotating black hole. Partial wave methods are applied to compute scattering and absorption cross sections, for a range of incident wavelengths. We compare our numerical results with semi-classical approximations from a geodesic analysis, and find excellent agreement. The glory in the backward direction is studied, and its properties are shown to be related to the properties of the photon orbit. ...

Identifying the fundamental degrees of freedom of a black hole poses a long-standing puzzle. In hep-th/0511133 Goldberger and Rothstein forwarded a theory of the low frequency degrees of freedom within the effective field theory approach, where they are relevancy-ordered but of unclear physical origin. Here these degrees of freedom are identified with near-horizon but non-compact gravitational perturbations which are decomposed into delocalized multipoles. Their world-line (k...

We study the absorption of massless scalar waves in a geometry that interpolates between the Schwarzschild solution and a wormhole that belongs to the Morris-Thorne class of solutions. In the middle of the interpolation branch, this geometry describes a regular black hole. We use the partial wave approach to compute the scalar absorption cross section in this geometry. Our results show that black holes and wormholes present distinctive absorption spectra. We conclude, for ins...
