Recent studies have demonstrated that higher than two-body bath-impurity correlations are not important for quantitatively describing the ground state of the Bose polaron. Motivated by the above, we employ the so-called Gross Ansatz (GA) approach to unravel the stationary and dynamical properties of the homogeneous one-dimensional Bose-polaron for different impurity momenta and bath-impurity couplings. We explicate that the character of the equilibrium state crossovers from t...

An impurity in a Bose gas is commonly referred to as Bose polaron. For a dilute Bose gas its properties are expected to be universal, that is dependent only on a few parameters characterizing the boson-impurity interactions. When boson-impurity interactions are weak, it has been known for some time that the properties of the polaron depend only on the scattering length of these interactions. In this paper which accompanies and extends Ref. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 126, 123403 (2021)...

We consider an impurity immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate with tunable boson-impurity interactions. Such a Bose polaron has recently been predicted to exhibit an intriguing energy spectrum at finite temperature, where the ground-state quasiparticle evenly splits into two branches as the temperature is increased from zero [Guenther et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 050405 (2018)]. To investigate this theoretical prediction, we employ a recently developed variational approach ...

We studied the properties of a single impurity atom immersed in a dilute Bose condensate at low temperatures. In particular, we perturbatively obtained the momentum dependence of the impurity spectrum and damping. By means of the Brillouin-Wigner perturbation theory we also calculated the self-energy both for attractive and repulsive polaron in the long-wavelength limit. The stability problem of the impurity atom in a weakly-interacting Bose gas is also examined.

The low-lying eigenstates of a one-dimensional (1D) system of many impenetrable point bosons and one moving impurity particle with repulsive zero-range impurity-boson interaction are found for all values of the impurity-boson mass ratio and coupling constant. The moving entity is a polaron-like composite object consisting of the impurity clothed by a co-moving gray soliton. The special case with impurity-boson interaction of point hard-core form and impurity-boson mass ratio ...

We study the properties of an impurity immersed in a weakly interacting Bose gas, i.e., of a Bose polaron. In the perturbatively-tractable of limit weak impurity-boson interactions many of its properties are known to depend only on the scattering length. Here we demonstrate that for strong (unitary) impurity-boson interactions all static quasiproperties of a Bose polaron in a dilute Bose gas, such as its energy, its residue, its Tan's contact and the number of bosons trapped ...

We present a comprehensive discussion of the ground-state properties of dilute $D$-dimensional Bose gas interacting with a few static impurities. Assuming the short-ranged character of the boson-impurity interaction, we calculate the energy of three- and two-dimensional Bose systems with one and two impurities immersed.

The mobile impurity in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) is a paradigmatic many-body problem. For weak interaction between the impurity and the BEC, the impurity deforms the BEC only slightly and it is well described within the Fr\"ohlich model and the Bogoliubov approximation. For strong local attraction this standard approach, however, fails to balance the local attraction with the weak repulsion between the BEC particles and predicts an instability where an infinite number ...

We investigate the momentum distribution function of a single distinguishable impurity particle which formed a polaron state in a gas of either free fermions or Tonks-Girardeau bosons in one spatial dimension. We obtain a Fredholm determinant representation of the distribution function for the Bethe ansatz solvable model of an impurity-gas $\delta$-function interaction potential at zero temperature, in both repulsive and attractive regimes. We deduce from this representation ...

We consider an impurity in a one-dimensional weakly-interacting Bose gas and analytically calculate the density profile of the Bose gas. Within the mean-field approximation, by increasing the distance from the impurity, the Bose gas density saturates exponentially fast to its mean thermodynamic-limit value at distances beyond the healing length. The effect of quantum fluctuations drastically changes this behavior, leading to a power law decay of the density deviation from the...
