In this paper, we prove a generalization of a conjecture of Erd\"{o}s, about the chromatic number of certain Kneser-type hypergraphs. For integers $n,k,r,s$ with $n\ge rk$ and $2\le s\le r$, the $r$-uniform general Kneser hypergraph $\mbox{KG}^r_s(n,k)$, has all $k$-subsets of $\{1,\dots,n\}$ as the vertex set and all multi-sets $\{A_1,\dots, A_r\}$ of $k$-subsets with $s$-wise empty intersections as the edge set. The case $r=s=2$, was considers by Kneser \cite{K} in 1955, wh...

A Kneser graph $KG_{n,k}$ is a graph whose vertices are in one-to-one correspondence with $k$-element subsets of $[n],$ with two vertices connected if and only if the corresponding sets do not intersect. A famous result due to Lov\'asz states that the chromatic number of a Kneser graph $KG_{n,k}$ is equal to $n-2k+2$. In this paper we study the chromatic number of a random subgraph of a Kneser graph $KG_{n,k}$ as $n$ grows. A random subgraph $KG_{n,k}(p)$ is obtained by inclu...

A $k$-uniform family of subsets of $[n]$ is intersecting if it does not contain a disjoint pair of sets. The study of intersecting families is central to extremal set theory, dating back to the seminal Erd\H{o}s-Ko-Rado theorem of 1961 that bounds the size of the largest such families. A recent trend has been to investigate the structure of set families with few disjoint pairs. Friedgut and Regev proved a general removal lemma, showing that when $\gamma n \le k \le (\tfrac12 ...

Let $\mathcal{H}=(V,\mathcal{E})$ be an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices and fix a positive integer $k$ such that $1\le k\le r$. A $k$-\emph{matching} of $\mathcal{H}$ is a collection of edges $\mathcal{M}\subset \mathcal{E}$ such that every subset of $V$ whose cardinality equals $k$ is contained in at most one element of $\mathcal{M}$. The $k$-matching number of $\mathcal{H}$ is the maximum cardinality of a $k$-matching. A well-known problem, posed by Erd\H{o}s, asks f...

For positive integers $d<k$ and $n$ divisible by $k$, let $m_{d}(k,n)$ be the minimum $d$-degree ensuring the existence of a perfect matching in a $k$-uniform hypergraph. In the graph case (where $k=2$), a classical theorem of Dirac says that $m_{1}(2,n)=\lceil n/2\rceil$. However, in general, our understanding of the values of $m_{d}(k,n)$ is still very limited, and it is an active topic of research to determine or approximate these values. In this paper we prove a "transfer...

A family of sets is intersecting if no two of its members are disjoint, and has the Erd\H{o}s-Ko-Rado property (or is EKR) if each of its largest intersecting subfamilies has nonempty intersection. Denote by $\mathcal{H}_k(n,p)$ the random family in which each $k$-subset of $\{1\dots n\}$ is present with probability $p$, independent of other choices. A question first studied by Balogh, Bohman and Mubayi asks: \[ \mbox{for what $p=p(n,k)$ is $\mathcal{H}_k(n,p)$ likely to be...

Let $K^r_n$ be the complete $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices, that is, the hypergraph whose vertex set is $[n]:=\{1,2,...,n\}$ and whose edge set is $\binom{[n]}{r}$. We form $G^r(n,p)$ by retaining each edge of $K^r_n$ independently with probability $p$. An $r$-uniform hypergraph $H\subseteq G$ is $F$-saturated if $H$ does not contain any copy of $F$, but any missing edge of $H$ in $G$ creates a copy of $F$. Furthermore, we say that $H$ is weakly $F$-saturated in $G$...

The Erd\H{o}s--Ko--Rado (EKR) theorem and its generalizations can be viewed as classifications of maximum independent sets in appropriately defined families of graphs, such as the Kneser graph $K(n,k)$. In this paper, we investigate the independence number of random spanning subraphs of two other families of graphs whose maximum independent sets satisfy an EKR-type characterization: the derangement graph on the set of permutations in $\mathrm{Sym}(n)$ and the derangement grap...

For all integers $n \geq k > d \geq 1$, let $m_{d}(k,n)$ be the minimum integer $D \geq 0$ such that every $k$-uniform $n$-vertex hypergraph $\mathcal H$ with minimum $d$-degree $\delta_{d}(\mathcal H)$ at least $D$ has an optimal matching. For every fixed integer $k \geq 3$, we show that for $n \in k \mathbb{N}$ and $p = \Omega(n^{-k+1} \log n)$, if $\mathcal H$ is an $n$-vertex $k$-uniform hypergraph with $\delta_{k-1}(\mathcal H) \geq m_{k-1}(k,n)$, then a.a.s.\ its $p$-ra...

Let $f(n,r,k)$ be the minimal number such that every hypergraph larger than $f(n,r,k)$ contained in $\binom{[n]}{r}$ contains a matching of size $k$, and let $g(n,r,k)$ be the minimal number such that every hypergraph larger than $g(n,r,k)$ contained in the $r$-partite $r$-graph $[n]^{r}$ contains a matching of size $k$. The Erd\H{o}s-Ko-Rado theorem states that $f(n,r,2)=\binom{n-1}{r-1}$~~($r \le \frac{n}{2}$) and it is easy to show that $g(n,r,k)=(k-1)n^{r-1}$. The conje...
