We present and prove a formula for the MHV scattering amplitude of n gravitons at tree level. Some of the more interesting features of the formula, which set it apart as being significantly different from many more familiar formulas, include the absence of any vestigial reference to a cyclic ordering of the gravitons--making it in a sense a truly gravitational formula, rather than a recycled Yang-Mills result, and the fact that it simultaneously manifests both S_{n-2} symmetr...

In this paper we study an N=1 supersymmetric extension of a perturbatively super-renormalizable (nonlocal)theory of gravity in four dimensions. The nonlocal supergravity theory is power-counting super-renormalizable and tree level unitary with the same particle content of the local N=1 supergravity (as simple example, unitarity of the three dimensional N=1 and N=2 supergravity is proved). We believe that extended SO(N) supergravity, for N=4 or N=8, might be free from divergen...

Asymptotically nonlocal field theories interpolate between Lee-Wick theories with multiple propagator poles, and ghost-free nonlocal theories. Previous work on asymptotically nonlocal scalar, Abelian, and non-Abelian gauge theories has demonstrated the existence of an emergent regulator scale that is hierarchically smaller than the lightest Lee-Wick partner, in a limit where the Lee-Wick spectrum becomes dense and decoupled. We generalize this construction to linearized gravi...

We present a general framework for calculating post-Minskowskian, classical, conservative Hamiltonians for $N$ non-spinning bodies in general relativity from relativistic scattering amplitudes. Novel features for $N>2$ are described including the subtraction of tree-like iteration contributions and the calculation of non-trivial many-body Fourier transform integrals needed to construct position space potentials. A new approach to calculating these integrals as an expansion in...

The field of scattering amplitudes plays a central role in elementary-particle physics. This includes various problems of broader interest for collider physics, gravitational physics, and fundamental principles underlying quantum field theory. We describe various applications and theoretical advances pointing towards novel descriptions of quantum field theories. Comments on future prospects are included.

In this note I provide an extended version of the talk given at BW2011 workshop. The concise introduction to the non-local SFT motivated models is given with an emphasis on the non-local generalization of gravity. A number of open questions and future directions in the development of such models is outlined.

We study the causal structure of a class of weakly nonlocal gravitational theories (eventually coupled to matter) that are compatible with perturbative unitarity and finiteness at quantum level. In particular, we show that in nonlocal quantum gravity a Shapiro's time advance never occurs. Moreover, we provide a recipe to construct a general ultraviolet complete gravitational theory coupled to matter (with or without supersymmetry) compatible with causality. Therefore, nonloca...

Breakdown of local physics in string theory at distances longer than the string scale is investigated. Such nonlocality would be expected to be visible in ultrahigh-energy scattering. The results of various approaches to such scattering are collected and examined. No evidence is found for non-locality from strings whose length grows linearly with the energy. However, local quantum field theory does apparently fail at scales determined by gravitational physics, particularly st...

The post-Minkowskian expansion of Einstein's general theory of relativity has received much attention in recent years due to the possibility of harnessing the computational power of modern amplitude calculations in such a classical context. In this brief review, we focus on the post-Minkowskian expansion as applied to the two-body problem in general relativity without spin, and we describe how relativistic quantum field theory can be used to greatly simplify analytical calcul...

It was recently found that there are classes of nonlocal gravity theories that are free of ghosts and singularities in their Newtonian limit [PRL, 108 (2012), 031101]. In these proceedings, a detailed and pedagogical derivation of a main result, the flat space propagator for an arbitrary covariant metric theory of gravitation, is presented. The result is applied to analyse f(R) models, Gauss-Bonnet theory, Weyl-squared gravity and the potentially asymptotically free nonlocal ...
