We extend our previous analysis to arbitrary two dimensional SU(N) principal chiral model in a link formulation. A general expression for the second order coefficient of fixed distance correlation function is given in terms of Green functions. This coefficient is calculated for distance 1 and is proven to be path independent. We also study the weak coupling expansion of the free energy of one dimensional SU(N) model and explain why it is non-uniform in the volume. Further, we...

We present the exact and explicit solution of the principal chiral field in two dimensions for an infinitely large rank group manifold. The energy of the ground state is explicitly found for the external Noether's fields of an arbitrary magnitude. The exact Gell-Mann - Low function exhibits the asymptotic freedom behaviour at large value of the field in agreement with perturbative calculations. Coefficients of the perturbative expansion in the renormalized charge are calculat...

We study the finite volume/temperature correlation functions of the (1+1)-dimensional ${\rm SU}(N)$ principal chiral sigma model in the planar limit. The exact S-matrix of the sigma model is known to simplify drastically at large $N$, and this leads to trivial thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations. The partition function, if derived using the TBA, can be shown to be that of free particles. We show that the correlation functions and expectation values of operators at fini...

Analytical and numerical methods are applied to principal chiral models on a two-dimensional lattice and their predictions are tested and compared. New techniques for the strong coupling expansion of SU(N) models are developed and applied to the evaluation of the two-point correlation function. The momentum-space lattice propagator is constructed with precision O(\beta^{10}) and an evaluation of the correlation length is obtained for several different definitions. Three-loop ...

We study Yang Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions, as an array of coupled (1+1)-dimensional principal chiral sigma models. This can be understood as an anisotropic limit where one of the space-time dimensions is discrete and the others are continuous. The $SU(N)\times SU(N)$ principal chiral sigma model in 1+1 dimensions is integrable, asymptotically free and has massive excitations. New exact form factors and correlation functions of the sigma model have recently been found by th...

Yang Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions can be expressed as an array of coupled (1+1)-dimensional principal chiral sigma models. The $SU(N)\times SU(N)$ principal chiral sigma model in 1+1 dimensions is integrable, asymptotically free and has massive excitations. We calculate all the form factors and two-point correlation functions of the Noether current and energy-momentum tensor, in 't~Hooft's large-$N$ limit (some form factors can be found even at finite $N$). We use these new...

The purpose of the ''bootstrap program'' for integrable quantum field theories in 1+1 dimensions is to construct explicitly a model in terms of its Wightman functions. In this article, this program is mainly illustrated in terms of the sinh-Gordon model and the SU(N) Gross-Neveu model. The nested off-shell Bethe ansatz for an SU(N) factorizing S-matrix is constructed. We review some previous results on sinh-Gordon form factors and the quantum operator field equation. The prob...

Superconformal transformations are derived for the $\N=2,4 supermultiplets corresponding to the simplest chiral primary operators. These are applied to two, three and four point correlation functions. When $\N=4$, results are obtained for the three point function of various descendant operators, including the energy momentum tensor and SU(4) current. For both $\N=2$ or 4 superconformal identities are derived for the functions of the two conformal invariants appearing in the f...

Following a recent proposal for integrable theories in higher dimensions based on zero curvature, new Lorentz invariant submodels of the principal chiral model in 2+1 dimensions are found. They have infinite local conserved currents, which are explicitly given for the su(2) case. The construction works for any Lie algebra and in any dimension, and it is given explicitly also for su(3). We comment on the application to supersymmetric chiral models.

Non-abelian lattice spin models with symmetry group SU(N) or U(N) can be formulated in terms of link variables which are subject to the Bianchi constraints. Using this representation we derive exact and local dual formulation for the partition function of such models on a cubic lattice in arbitrary dimension D. Locality means that the dual action is given by a sum over some subset of hypercubes of the dual lattice and the interaction between dual variables ranges over one giv...
