We present simple derivation of the Luttinger liquid relation for the 1D Hubbard model both for finite $U$ and in the $U=\infty$ limit. We describe the simple solution of the Hubbard model in the infinite repulsion limit and use it to calculate the correlators of the model in this limit in a simple and a physical way using the Bosonization technique. We then calculate the asymptotics of the correlators of the model at arbitrary $U$ through the single parameter, which can be calculated from the Bethe Ansatz solution. Our derivation of the critical exponents is simple and allows one to express different physical operators of the Hubbard model through the charge and spin Bose fields in a direct and a physically transparent way.

Finite temperature properties of a non-Fermi liquid system is one of the most challenging probelms in current understanding of strongly correlated electron systems. The paradigmatic arena for studying non-Fermi liquids is in one dimension, where the concept of a Luttinger liquid has arisen. The existence of a critical point at zero temperature in one dimensional systems, and the fact that experiments are all undertaken at finite temperature, implies a need for these one dimen...

We show that the pre-factors of all terms of the one-dimensional Hubbard model correlation-function asymptotic expansions have an universal form, as the corresponding critical exponents. In addition to calculating such pre-factors, our study clarifies the relation of the low-energy Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid behavior to the scattering mechanisms which control the spectral properties of the model at all energy scales. Our results are of general nature for many integrable intera...

We discuss the technique of bosonization for studying systems of interacting fermions in one dimension. After briefly reviewing the low-energy properties of Fermi and Luttinger liquids, we present some of the relations between bosonic and fermionic operators in one dimension. We use these relations to calculate the correlation functions and the renormalization group properties of various operators for a system of spinless fermions. We then apply the methods of bosonization to...

We present analytical results of fundamental properties of one-dimensional (1D) Hubbard model with a repulsive interaction, ranging from fractional excitations to universal thermodynamics, interaction-driven criticality, correlation functions, Contact susceptibilities and quantum cooling. Using the exact solutions of the Bethe Ansatz equations of the Hubbard model, we first rigorously calculate the gapless spin and charge excitations, exhibiting exotic features of fractionali...

The critical behavior of one-dimensional interacting Fermi systems is expected to display universality features, called Luttinger liquid behavior. Critical exponents and certain thermodynamic quantities are expected to be related among each others by model-independent formulas. We establish such relations, the proof of which has represented a challenging mathematical problem, for a general model of spinning fermions on a one dimensional lattice; interactions are short ranged ...

The electronic system of the 1D Hubbard model is not stable due to Peierls instability; the correlations are strong even for the weak Coulomb interaction. The resulting strongly correlated state without Landau quisi--particle excitations is known as the Luttinger liquid. Critical exponents of a power--law dependence of correlation functions at low energies differ substantially for the Luttinger and Fermi liquids. In this paper we evaluate two critical exponents that define no...

We give the first rigorous (non perturbative) proof of Luttinger liquid behavior in the one dimensional Hubbard model, for small repulsive interaction and values of the density different from half filling. The analysis is based on the combination of multiscale analysis with Ward identities bases on a hidden and approximate local chiral gauge invariance. No use is done of exact solutions or special integrability properties of the Hubbard model, and the results can be in fact e...

We develop a bosonization approach for one-dimensional models based on Bethe ansatz equations. The operator formalism of the exact soluble models in the low energy limit provides a systematic method to calculate the asymptotic correlation functions. As examples with and without internal degrees of freedom, the Calogero-Sutherland (C-S) model and the repulsive Hubbard model are considered respectively. We verify that the low energy behavior of the C-S model is controlled by tw...

Although the one dimensional (1D) repulsive Fermi-Hubbard model has been intensively studied over many decades, a rigorous understanding of many aspects of the model is still lacking. In this work, based on the solutions to the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations, we provide a rigorous study on the following: (1) We calculate the fractional excitations of the system in various phases, from which we identify the parameter regime featuring the spin incoherent Luttinger liquid ...

We study the 1D extended Hubbard model with a weak repulsive short-range interaction in the non-half-filled band case, using non-perturbative Renormalization Group methods and Ward Identities. At the critical temperature, T = 0, the response functions have anomalous power-law decay with multiplicative logarithmic corrections. The critical exponents, the susceptibility and the Drude weight verify the universal Luttinger liquid relations. Borel summability and (a weak form of) ...
