New ground-based and HST observations of distant clusters make it possible to trace the history of E/S0 galaxies to lookback times of ~10 $h_{50}^{-1}$ Gyr. In this letter we construct a large sample of early-type galaxies with measured gas-phase metallicities from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and Galaxy Zoo in order to investigate the origin of the gas that fuels their residual star formation. We present HST/WFPC2 observations of the five bluest E+A galaxies (z~0.1) in the Zabludoff et al. sample to study whether their detailed morphologies are consistent with late-to-early type evolution and to determine what drives that evolution.
