The effects of internal quark structure of baryons on the composition and structure of neutron star matter with hyperons are investigated in the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. The QMC model is based on mean-field description of nonoverlapping spherical bags bound by self-consistent exchange of scalar and vector mesons. The predictions of this model are compared with quantum hadrodynamic (QHD) model calibrated to reproduce identical nuclear matter saturation properties. By ...

We study the effects of strong magnetic fields on antikaon condensation in neutron star matter using the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. The QMC model describes a nuclear many-body system as nonoverlapping MIT bags in which quarks interact through the self-consistent exchange of scalar and vector mesons in the mean-field approximation. It is found that the presence of strong magnetic fields alters the threshold density of antikaon condensation significantly. The onset of $K...

The possibility that nuclear matter at a density relevant to the interior of massive neutron stars may be a quarkynoic matter has attracted considerable recent interest. In this work, we construct a field theoretical model to describe the quarkyonic matter, that would allow quantitative and systematic calculations of its various properties. This is implemented by synthesizing the Walecka model together with the quark-meson model, where both quark and nucleon degrees of freedo...

The recent past witnesses the growing interdependence between the physics of hadrons, the physics of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, and the physics of compact objects in astrophysics. A notable example is the kaon which plays special roles in all the three fields. In this talk, we first review the various theoretical investigations of kaon properties in nuclear medium. We then present a detailed transport model study of kaon production and flow in heavy-ion collisions at ...

Recent studies on meson condensations (pions and kaons) in high-density hadronic matter are reviewed. After summarizing onset mechanisms of pion and kaon condensations, we discuss implications for neutron star phenomena such as rapid cooling through neutrino emission, static and dynamic properties of neutron stars. Recent studies on coexistence problem of pion and kaon condensations are briefly introduced. Finally, relevance of meson condensations in hadronic matter to those ...

We determine an `empirical' kaon dispersion relation by analysing and fitting recent experimental data on kaon production in heavy-ion collisions. We then investigate its effects on hadronic equation of state at high densities and on neutron star properties. We find that the maximum mass of neutron stars can be lowered by about 0.4$M_\odot$, once kaon condensation as constrained by our empirical dispersion relation is introduced. We emphasize the growing interplay between had...

In this lecture we discuss the properties of dense hadronic matter inside neutron stars. In particular, we pay attention to the role of strangeness in the core of neutron stars, by analysing the presence of baryons and mesons with strangeness. We consider two interesting possible scenarios in their interior, that is, the existence of hyperons leading to the so-called hyperon puzzle and the presence of a kaon condensed phase inside neutron stars.

We study the equation of state of dense baryon matter within the relativistic mean-field model, and we include ${\Delta}$(1232) isobars into IUFSU model with hyperons and consider the possibility of kaon meson condensation. We find that it is necessary to consider the $\Delta$ resonance state inside the massive neutron star. The critical density of Kaon mesons and hyperons is shifted to a higher density region, in this respect an early appearance of $\Delta$ resonances is cru...

The measurement of $1.97 \pm 0.04 M_{solar}$ for PSR J1614-2230 and $2.01 \pm 0.04M_{solar}$ for PSR J0348+0432 puts a strong constraint on the neutron star equation of state and its exotic composition at higher densities. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of exotic equation of state within the observational mass constraint of $2M_{solar}$ in the framework of relativistic mean field model with density-dependent couplings. We particularly study the effect of antika...

We use an effective quark model to describe both hadronic matter and deconfined quark matter. By calculating the equations of state and the corresponding neutron star properties, we show that the internal properties of the nucleon have important implications for the properties of these systems.
