We present a detailed abundance analysis based on high resolution and high signal-to-noise spectra of eight extremely metal poor (EMP) stars with [Fe/H] < -3.5$ dex, four of which are new. Only stars with 4900 < Teff< 5650 K are included. Two stars of the eight are outliers in each of several abundance ratios. We present, for the first time, a detailed abundance analysis of the carbon star HE 1104$-$0957 based on high resolution (R${\sim}$ 50\,000) spectra. Our analysis shows that the object is an extremely metal-poor star with [Fe/H] $\sim$ $-$2.96. We find that the object shows enhancement of carbon with [C/Fe] $\sim$ 1.82. Based on spectroscopic constraints derived from NLTE line formation, we explore the likely range of stellar parameters (T_eff and log g) for the hyper-metal-poor (HMP) star HE 1327-2326. We report on a chemical-abundance analysis of two very metal-poor horizontal-branch stars in the Milky Way halo: CS 22186-005 ([Fe/H]=-2.70) and CS 30344-033 ([Fe/H]=-2.90).
