We study the properties of star-forming galaxies selected at 610 MHz with the GMRT in a survey covering $\sim$1.86 deg$^2$ down to a noise of $\sim$7.1\,$\mu$Jy / beam. These were identified by combining multiple classification diagnostics: optical, X-ray, infrared and radio data. In a companion paper (Arnouts et al. 2004) we presented new measurements of the galaxy luminosity function at 1500 Angstroms out to z~1 using GALEX-VVDS observations (1039 galaxies with NUV<24.5 and z>0.2) and at higher z using existing data sets. We construct and analyze a u-band selected galaxy sample from the SDSS Southern Survey, which covers 275 sq. deg. The sample includes 43223 galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts in the range 0.005<z<0.3 and with 14.5<u<20.5. The S/N in the u-band Petrosian aperture is improved by coadding multiple epochs of imaging data and by including sky-subtraction corrections. The Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) Survey is a long-term project aiming at finding and analysing star-forming galaxies detected by their H$\alpha$ emission in Schmidt objective-prism plates. We present new results on the cosmic star formation history in the SXDS-UDS field out to z=1.6. We study the evolution of star formation activity of galaxies at 0.5<z<3.5 as a function of stellar mass, using very deep NIR data taken with Multi-Object Infrared Camera and Spectrograph (MOIRCS) on the Subaru telescope in the GOODS-North region. We present the first determination of the 15micron luminosity functio galaxies from the European Large Area ISO survey (ELAIS) southern fields. We have adopted a new criterion to separate the quiescent, non-evolving and the starburst, evolving populations based on the ratio of mid-infrared to optical luminosities.
