We present the first (V,V-I) Color -- Magnitude Diagram (CMD) for the poorly studied globular cluster NGC 5634. The CMD shows a steep Red Giant Branch (RGB) and a predominantly blue Horizontal Branch (HB): both these characteristics suggest a low metal content for this cluster. From the position of the RGB in the CMD we estimate [Fe/H] = -1.94 +/- 0.10 and E(B-V)=0.06 +/- 0.01. We present deep BVRI CCD photometry of the stars in the dwarf irregular galaxy SagDIG. The color-magnitude diagrams of the measured stars in SagDIG show a blue plume which consists mostly of young stellar populations, and a well-defined red giant branch (RGB). The foreground reddening of SagDIG is estimated to be E(B-V)=0.06. The tip of the RGB is found to be at I_(TRGB)=21.55 +/- 0.10 mag. As part of the Selected Areas Starcount Survey (SASS), a CCD survey to V>21, we have obtained VI photometry of two fields at b=+-40 aligned roughly with an extrapolation of the major axis of the Sagittarius (Sgr) dwarf spheroidal galaxy.
