We report on the first ten identifications of sources serendipitously detected by the NuSTAR to provide the first sensitive census of the cosmic X-ray background (CXB) source population at >10 keV. We find that these NuSTAR-detected sources are ~100x fainter than those previously detected at >10 keV and have a broad range in redshift and luminosity (z=0.020-2.923 and L_10-40 keV~4x10^{41}-5x10^{45} erg/s); the median redshift and luminosity are z~0.7 and L_10-40 keV~3x10^{44}...

ABRIDGED. We present "The XMM-Newton Bright Serendipitous Survey", two flux-limited samples with flux limit fx ~7E-14 cgs in the 0.5-4.5 keV (BSS) and 4.5-7.5 keV (HBSS) energy band, respectively. We have constrained the extragalactic source count distributions over a broad range of X-ray fluxes and in various energy bands to test whether the predictions from X-ray background synthesis models agree with the observational constraints provided by our measurements. We present an analysis of the X-ray spectral properties of 61 hard X-ray selected (2-8 keV) sources from the bright ($f_{2-8 keV}>10^{-14}$ \funits) {\it XMM-Newton}/2dF survey. This comprises of 9 {\it XMM-Newton} pointings in the North Galactic Pole region ($\sim 1.6 \rm deg^2$) and overlaps with the SDSS, 2QZ and 2dFGRS surveys. We present optical spectroscopic identifications of hard X-ray (5-10 keV) selected sources belonging to the HELLAS sample obtained with BeppoSAX down to a 5-10 keV flux limit of f_{5-10 keV}~3x10^-14 erg cm^-2 s^-1. The X-ray background (XRB) from 0.1 to 7 keV has been studied using high spectral and spatial resolution data from the ASCA SIS and ROSAT PSPC. Analysing both the diffuse background radiation and resolved sources, we have carried out a series of joint spectral fits of the ASCA and ROSAT data. Optical spectroscopy has enabled us to identify the optical counterparts to over 200 faint X-ray sources to a flux limit of S_(0.5-2keV)=4x10^-15 erg s^-1 cm^-2 on 5 deep ROSAT fields. Here we present a spectral analysis of all the X-ray sources to investigate claims that the average source spectra harden at faint X-ray flux. We present additional optical spectroscopic identifications of sources identified in three deep ASCA GIS fields which also form part of a deep ROSAT survey. In total, 26 ASCA sources have been detected down to a 2-10keV flux limit of S = 5e-14 erg/cm/s. We present the first results from an XMM-Newton serendipitous medium-deep survey, which covers nearly three square degrees. We detect a total of 1022, 495 and 100 sources, down to minimum fluxes of about 5.9 x 10^-16, 2.8 x 10^-15 and 6.2 x 10^-15 erg cm^-2 s^-1, in the 0.5-2, 2-10 and 4.5-10 keV band, respectively. The Serendipitous Extragalactic X-ray Source Identification (SEXSI) Program is designed to extend greatly the sample of identified extragalactic hard X-ray 2-10 keV sources at intermediate fluxes ($\sim 10^{-13} - 10^{-15} erg/cm2/s$).
