The statistical mechanics of a two-state Ising spin-glass model with finite random connectivity, in which each site is connected to a finite number of other sites, is extended in this work within the replica technique to study the phase transitions in the three-state Ghatak-Sherrington (or random Blume-Capel) model of a spin glass with a crystal field term. The replica symmetry ansatz for the order function is expressed in terms of a two-dimensional effective-field distributi...

In this work we study numerically a short range p-spin glass model in three dimensions. The behaviour of the model appears to be remarkably different from mean field predictions. In fact it shares some features typical of models with full replica-symmetry breaking (FRSB). Nevertheless, we believe that the transition that we study is intrinsically different from the FRSB and basically due to non-perturbative contributions. We study both the statics and the dynamics of the syst...

In this paper we study the phase diagram of the disordered Ising ferromagnet. Within the framework of the Gaussian variational approximation it is shown that in systems with a finite value of the disorder in dimensions D=4 and D < 4 the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases are separated by a spin-glass phase. The transition from paramagnetic to spin-glass state is continuous (second-order), while the transition between spin-glass and ferromagnetic states is discontinuous (fi...

We investigate the generalized p-spin models that contain arbitrary diagonal operators U with no reflection symmetry. We derive general equations that give an opportunity to uncover the behavior of the system near the glass transition at different (continuous) p. The quadrupole glass with J=1 is considered as an illustrating example. It is shown that the crossover from continuous to discontinuous glass transition to one-step replica breaking solution takes place at p=3.3 for ...

The phase diagram of the $p$-spin-interacting spin glass model in a transverse field is investigated in the limit $p \to \infty$ under the presence of ferromagnetic bias. Using the replica method and the static approximation, we show that the phase diagram consists of four phases: Quantum paramagnetic, classical paramagnetic, ferromagnetic, and spin-glass phases. We also show that the static approximation is valid in the ferromagnetic phase in the limit $p \to \infty$ by usin...

We investigate in detail the phase diagrams of the p-body +/-J Ising model with and without random fields on random graphs with fixed connectivity. One of our most interesting findings is that a thermodynamic spin glass phase is present in the three-body purely ferromagnetic model in random fields, unlike for the canonical two-body interaction random-field Ising model. We also discuss the location of the phase boundary between the paramagnetic and spin glass phases that does ...

It is shown that continuously changing the effective number of interacting particles in p-spin-glass-like model allows to describe the transition from the full replica symmetry breaking glass solution to stable first replica symmetry breaking glass solution in the case of non-reflective symmetry diagonal operators used instead of Ising spins. As an example, axial quadrupole moments in place of Ising spins are considered and the boundary value $p_{c_{1}}\cong 2.5$ is found.

We present the full phase diagram of the spherical $2+p$ spin glass model with $p\geq 4$. The main outcome is the presence of a new phase with both properties of Full Replica Symmetry Breaking (FRSB) phases of discrete models, e.g, the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model, and those of One Replica Symmetry Breaking (1RSB). The phase, which separates a 1RSB phase from FRSB phase, is described by an order parameter function $q(x)$ with a continuous part (FRSB) for $x<m$ and a disconti...

The static behavior of orientational glasses is discussed in terms of a replica theory based on the infinite range random bond--random field model. A general version of the model applicable to dipolar and quadrupolar glasses is presented using a symmetry-adapted representation for the order parameter fields. Numerical results for the $<100>$ quadrupolar glass are obtained and compared with the Ising and $<111>$ orientational glass models.

Models of spin glasses are studied with a phase transition discontinuous in the Parisi order parameter. It is assumed that the leading order corrections to the thermodynamic limit of the high temperature free energy are due to the existence of a metastable saddle point in the replica formalism. An ansatz is made on the form of the metastable point and its contribution to the free energy is calculated. The Random Energy Model is considered along with the p-spin and the p-state...
