In the present paper we consider the motion of a very heavy tracer particle in a medium of a very dense, non-interacting Bose gas. We prove that, in a certain mean-field limit, the tracer particle will be decelerated and come to rest somewhere in the medium. Friction is caused by emission of Cerenkov radiation of gapless modes into the gas. Mathematically, a system of semilinear integro-differential equations, introduced in [FSSG10], describing a tracer particle in a dispersi...

The Cherenkov radiation of magnons at passage of the heavy slow magnetic monopole through an ordered magnetic matter is considered. Also the Cherenkov radiation of phonons at monopole movement in medium is discussed.

We apply the microscopic Bogoliubov theory of dilute Bose-Einstein condensates to analyze quantum and thermal fluctuations in a flowing atomic condensate in the presence of a sonic horizon. For the simplest case of a step-like horizon, closed-form analytical expressions are found for the spectral distribution of the analog Hawking radiation and for the density correlation function. The peculiar long-distance density correlations that appear as a consequence of the Hawking emi...

The paper considers Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of light in a cavity with medium. In the framework of two-level model we show the effect of gaseous medium on the critical temperature of light condensation in the system. Transition of the system to the state with released light condensate is illustrated in consequent stages. Analytical expressions for a typical spatial extent of the condensed cloud of photons, as well for spectral characteristics of the condensate peak ar...

We discuss the transport of a tracer particle through the Bose Einstein condensate of a Bose gas. The particle interacts with the atoms in the Bose gas through two-body interactions. In the limiting regime where the particle is very heavy and the Bose gas is very dense, but very weakly interacting ("mean-field limit"), the dynamics of this system corresponds to classical Hamiltonian dynamics. We show that, in this limit, the particle is decelerated by emission of gapless mode...

We develop a theory to describe the damping of elementary excitations of a Bose-condensed gas in the hydrodynamic regime for the thermal cloud. We discuss second sound in a spatially homogeneous gas and the lowest excitations of a trapped condensate.

We investigate the propagation of zero sound in two-species interpenetrating Bose-Einstein condensates. In very elongated clouds, this propagation is shown to be essentially one-dimensional. We also present 1D numerical experiments that exhibit the existence of two different sound pulses with velocities consistent with the theoretical predictions.

A covariant criterion for the Cherenkov radiation emission in the field of a non-linear gravitational wave is considered in the framework of exact integrable models of particle dynamics and electromagnetic wave propagation. It is shown that vacuum interacting with curvature can give rise to Cherenkov radiation. The conically shaped spatial distribution of radiation is derived and its basic properties are discussed.

Cherenkov radiation in uniformly moving homogenous isotropic medium without dispersion is studied. Formula for the spectrum of Cherenkov radiation of fermion was derived for the case when the speed of the medium is less than the speed of light in this medium at rest. The properties of Cherenkov spectrum are investigated.

Low energy bremsstrahlung formulae are derived for a particle beam of charged bosons forming a Bose-Einsten condensate. The expression for energy radiated consists of two terms in this case. One of them, the larger one in the limit of large numbers of Bosons in the state, is proportional to the number of bosons squared and has the same form as one obtains in a hydrodynamic model of quantum wave mechanics. This term is sensitive to the size and shape of the wave packet especia...
