Polycrystalline samples of Sr2Mn2CuAs2O2, Sr2Mn3As2O2, and Sr2Zn2MnAs2O2 were synthesized. Their temperature- and applied magnetic field-dependent structural, transport, thermal, and magnetic properties were characterized by means of x-ray and neutron diffraction, electrical resistivity rho, heat capacity, magnetization and magnetic susceptibility measurements. These compounds have a body-centered-tetragonal crystal structure (space group I4/mmm) that consists of MO2 (M = Zn ...

We report the synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of two new high-entropy silicides (HESs), namely (Nb$_{0.1}$Mo$_{0.3}$W$_{0.3}$Re$_{0.2}$Ru$_{0.1}$)$_{5}$Si$_{3}$ and (Nb$_{0.2}$Mo$_{0.3}$W$_{0.3}$Re$_{0.1}$Ru$_{0.1}$)$_{5}$Si$_{3}$. Structural analysis indicates that both HESs consist of a (nearly) single tetragonal W$_{5}$Si$_{3}$-type phase (space group $I$4/$mcm$) with a disordered cation distribution. Electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and...

We report the superconductivity of a new quaternary compound ThMo$_2$Si$_2$C, synthesized with the arc-melting technique. The compound crystallizes in a tetragonal CeCr$_2$Si$_2$C-type structure with cell parameters of $a$ = 4.2296 \r{A}and $c$ = 5.3571 \r{A}. An interlayer Si-Si covalent bonding is suggested by the atomic distance. The electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate a Pauli-paramagnetic metal with dominant electron-electron scatterin...

Superconducting properties were studied on high quality superconductors $Ba_{x}(NH_{3})Fe_{2}Se_{2}$ ($T_{c}$ = 39 K) and $Sr_{x}(NH_{3})Fe_{2}Se_{2}$ ($T_{c}$ = 44 K) prepared by intercalating Ba/Sr atoms into tetragonal $\beta$-FeSe by liquid ammonia. The elongated c-axis and almost unchanged a-axis of $Ba_{x}(NH_{3})Fe_{2}Se_{2}$, comparing with $\beta$-FeSe, suggested an unchanged intra-$Fe_{2}Se_{2}$-layer structure and the $T_{c}$ enhancement is due to a 3D to 2D-like F...

It is a well-established fact that the physical properties of compounds follow their crystal symmetries. This has especially pronounced implications on emergent collective quantum states in materials. Specifically, the effect of crystal symmetries on the properties of superconductors is widely appreciated, although the clarification of this relationship is a core effort of on-going research. Emergent phenomena on honeycomb lattices are of special interest, as they can give ri...

The basic magnetic and electronic properties of most binary compounds have been well known for decades. Therefore the recent announcement of superconductivity at 39 K in the simple binary ceramic compound MgB2 is surprising. This compound, available from common chemical suppliers, and used as a starting material for chemical metathesis reactions, has been known and structurally characterized since the mid 1950's. Here we show that the addition of electrons to MgB2 through par...

We report the superconductivity in layered oxychalcogenide La2O2Bi3AgS6 compound. The La2O2Bi3AgS6 compound has been reported recently by our group, which has a tetragonal structure with the space group P4/nmm. The crystal structure of La2O2Bi3AgS6 can be regarded as alternate stacks of LaOBiS2-type layer and rock-salt-type (Bi,Ag)S layer. We measured low-temperature electrical resistivity and observed superconductivity at 0.5 K. The observation of superconductivity in the La...

A new layered Ti-based pnictide oxide superconductor, Ba1-xNaxTi2Sb2O (0.0 <= x <= 0.33), is reported. X-ray studies reveal it crystallizes in the tetragonal CeCr2Si2C structure. The undoped parent compound, BaTi2Sb2O (P4/mmm; a=4.1196(1){\AA}; c=8.0951(2){\AA}), exhibits a CDW/SDW transition at 54K. Upon chemical doping with Na, the CDW/SDW transition is systematically suppressed and super-conductivity arises with the critical temperatures, Tc, increasing to 5.5 K. Bulk supe...

Studies on high-entropy alloy (HEA) superconductors have recently been increasing, particularly in the fields of materials science and condensed matter physics. To contribute to research on new HEA-type superconductors, in our study we synthesized polycrystalline samples of A15-type superconductors of Nb3Al0.2Sn0.2Ge0.2Ga0.2Si0.2 (#1) and Nb3Al0.3Sn0.3Ge0.2Ga0.1Si0.1 (#2) with an HEA-type site by arc melting. Elemental and structural analyses revealed that the compositions of...

The finding of superconductivity in Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 put the attention on the investigation of compounds that crystallize with ThCr2Si2 structure type such as AT2X2 (A = alkali/ alkaline earth/ rare earth element; T = transition metal and X = element of the 13-15th group) . In this context the silicides CaFe2Si2, CaFe0.68(6)Rh1.32(6)Si2, CaRh2Si2 and SrCo2Si2 have been synthesized by melting mixtures of the elements in an arc-furnace under an argon atmosphere. Single crystals ...
