The brane-worlds model was inspired partly by Kaluza-Klein's theory, where the gravitation and the gauge fields are obtained of a geometry of higher dimension (bulk). Such a model has been showing positive in the sense of we find perspectives and probably deep modifications in the physics, such as: Unification in a scale TeV, quantum gravity in this scale and deviation of Newton's law for small distances. One of the principles of this model is to suppose a space-time embedded in a bulk of high dimension. In this note it is shown, basing on the theorem of Collinson-Szekeres, that the space-time of Schwarzschild cannot be embedded locally and isometrically in a bulk of five dimensions with constant curvature,(for example ADS-5). From the point of view of the semi-Riemannian geometry this last result consists constraints to the model brane-world.

The braneworlds models were inspired partly by Kaluza-Klein's theory, where both the gravitational and the gauge fields are obtained from the geometry of a higher dimensional space. The positive aspects of these models consist in perspectives of modifications it could bring in to particle physics, such as: unification in a TeV scale, quantum gravity in this scale and deviation of Newton's law for small distances. One of the principles of these models is to suppose that all sp...

We study the geometrical and topological properties of the bulk (environment space) when we modify the geometry or topology of a brane-world. Through the characterization of a spherically symmetric space-time as a local brane-world immersed into six dimensional pseudo-Euclidean spaces, with different signatures of the bulk, we investigate the existence of a topological difference in the immersed brane-world. In particular the Schwarzschild's brane-world and its Kruskal (or Fr...

We develop a general algorithm that enables the consistent embedding of any four-dimensional static and spherically symmetric geometry into any five-dimensional single-brane braneworld model, characterized by an injective and nonsingular warp factor. Furthermore, we supplement the algorithm by introducing a method that allows one to, in principle, reconstruct 5D field theories that support the aforementioned geometries. This approach is based on a conformal transformation of ...

In this short note, five-dimensional brane world models with dS_{4} metric on the branes are discussed. The explicit coordinate transformations, which show the equivalence between the bulk metric of these brane world models and the metric induced on an appropriate submanifolds in the flat six-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space-time, are presented. The cases of the zero and non-zero cosmological constant in the bulk are discussed in detail.

In brane-worlds, our universe is assumed to be a submanifold, or brane, embedded in a higher-dimensional bulk spacetime. Focusing on scenarios with a curved five-dimensional bulk spacetime, I discuss their gravitational and cosmological properties.

In this paper we explore some general aspects of the embeddings associated with brane-localized gravity. In particular we show that the consistency of such embeddings can require (or impose) very specific relations between all the involved bulk and brane matter source parameters. We specifically explore the embeddings of 3-branes with non-zero spatial 3-curvature $k$ into 5-dimensional spacetime bulks, and show that for such embeddings, a 5-dimensional bulk cosmological const...

We take advantage of the Shiromizu et al. covariant formalism to find out the brane properties originating from the five dimensional bulk spacetime. Making a different choice for the conformal factor $e^{-2b(z)}$ compared to Estrada [24], we reach a new solution with a lot of interesting properties, where $b(z) = ln(1/\sqrt{cosh2\mu z})$. The non-local tensor $E_{ab}$ rooted from the 5-dimensional Riemann tensor gives an anisotropic stress energy tensor on the brane with posi...

We investigate the embedding of four-dimensional branes in five-dimensional spaces. We firstly consider the case when the embedding space is a vacuum bulk whose energy-momentum tensor consists of a Dirac delta function with support in the brane. We then consider the embedding in the context of Randall-Sundrum-type models, taking into account $Z_{2}$ symmetry and a cosmological constant. We employ the Campbell-Magaard theorem to construct the embeddings and are led to the conc...

In this communication we have shown that Schwarzschild solution is possible in brane world for some specific choices of brane matter and the non local effects from the bulk. A conformally flat bulk space time with fine-tuned vacuum energy (brane tension) shows that, Schwarzschild solution may also be the vacuum solution for brane world scenario.

We revisit Weyl geometry in the context of recent higher-dimensional theories of spacetime. After introducing the Weyl theory in a modern geometrical language we present some results that represent extensions of Riemannian theorems. We consider the theory of local embeddings and submanifolds in the context of Weyl geometries and show how a Riemannian spacetime may be locally and isometrically embedded in a Weyl bulk. We discuss the problem of classical confinement and the sta...
