It is proved that dynamically formed Reissner-Nordstr\"om-de Sitter (RNdS) black holes, which have recently been claimed to provide counter-examples to the Penrose strong cosmic censorship conjecture, are characterized by unstable (singular) inner Cauchy horizons. The proof is based on analytical techniques which explicitly reveal the fact that {\it charged} massive scalar fields in the charged RNdS black-hole spacetime are characterized, in the large-coupling regime, by quas...

Some interesting consequences of spacelike matter shells are presented, in particular the possibility of travelling through Cauchy horizons and violating the strong cosmic censorship principle. These show that the weak energy condition does not guarentee cosmic censorship.

A classical model for the interior structure of a Schwarzshild black hole which consists in creating multiple de Sitter universes with lightlike boundaries is proposed. The interaction of the boundaries is studied and a scenario leading to disconnected de Sitter universes is described.

We discuss why the tunneling picture does not necessarily lead to Hawking radiation from the de Sitter horizon. The experience with the condensed matter analogs of event horizon suggests that the de Sitter vacuum is stable against the Hawking radiation. On the other hand the detector immersed into the de Sitter background will detect the radiation which looks as thermal with the effective temperature twice larger than the Hawking temperature associated with the cosmological h...

A novel perspective on defining black holes designed to be more broadly applicable outside of asymptotically flat spacetimes, in the context of classical general relativity, is presented, discussed, and characterized. The construction formalizes the heuristic idea that black holes are the "past Cauchy development of the set of singularities". As such, the formulation depends in a critical way on the identification of singularities, which has been treated in the literature thr...

We examine the stability and the strong cosmic censorship in the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter (RN-dS) black hole by investigating the evolution of a scalar field non-minimally coupled to the curvature. We find that when the coupling parameter is negative, the RN-dS black hole experiences instability. The instability disappears when the coupling parameter becomes non-negative. With the increase of the coupling parameter, the violation of the strong cosmic censorship occurs at ...

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics inside and outside of black-branes in anti de Sitter space by numerical simulations using double-null formalism. We prepare a charged planar matter shell which, due to a negative cosmological constant, collapses and dynamically forms a black-brane with an apparent horizon, a singularity and a Cauchy horizon. The gravitational collapse cannot form a naked overcharged black-brane and hence weak cosmic censorship is safe. Although mass ...

We study the thermodynamic properties associated with black hole horizon and cosmological horizon for the Gauss-Bonnet solution in de Sitter space. When the Gauss-Bonnet coefficient is positive, a locally stable small black hole appears in the case of spacetime dimension $d=5$, the stable small black hole disappears and the Gauss-Bonnet black hole is always unstable quantum mechanically when $d \ge 6$. On the other hand, the cosmological horizon is found always locally stable...

In this paper we propose a straightforward method for understanding the thermodynamics of black holes in de Sitter space, one that will allow us to study these black holes in a way that is analogous to the anti-de Sitter case. As per usual, we formulate separate thermodynamic first laws for each horizon present in the spacetime, and study their thermodynamics as if they were independent systems characterized by their own temperature. That these systems are not entirely indepe...

We examine potential deformations of inner black hole and cosmological horizons in Reissner-Nordstr\"om de-Sitter spacetimes. While the rigidity of the outer black hole horizon is guaranteed by theorem, that theorem applies to neither the inner black hole nor past cosmological horizon. Further for pure deSitter spacetime it is clear that the cosmological horizon can be deformed (by translation). For specific parameter choices, it is shown that both inner black hole and cosmol...
