A measurement of the decay K+ -> pi0 mu+ nu_mu gamma has been performed with the E787 detector at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Forty events were observed in the signal region with the background expectation of (16.5 +- 2.7) events. The branching ratio was measured to be (1.58 +- 0.46(stat.) +- 0.08(syst.)) x 10^{-5}} in the kinematic region Eg >30 MeV and theta_{mu gamma} > 20degree, where Eg is the energy of the emitted photon and theta_{mu gamma} is the angle between the...

The KTeV/E799 experiment at Fermilab has searched for the rare kaon decay KL--> pi0ee. This mode is expected to have a significant CP violating component. The measurement of its branching ratio could support the Standard Model or could indicate the existence of new physics. This letter reports new results from the 1999-2000 data set. One event is observed with an expected background at 0.99 +/- 0.35 events. We set a limit on the branching ratio of 3.5 x 10^(-10) at the 90% co...

The branching ratio of the rare decay pi0 -> e+ e- has been measured precisely, using the complete data set from the KTeV E799-II experiment at Fermilab. We observe 794 candidate pi0 -> e+ e- events using K0_L -> 3pi0 as a source of tagged pi0's. The expected background is 52.7 +- 11.2 events, predominantly from high e+ e- mass pi0 -> e+ e- gamma decays. We have measured B[(pi0 -> e+ e-), (m_e+e-/m_pi0)^2 > 0.95] = 6.44 +- 0.25(stat) +- 0.22(syst) x10^(-8), which is above the...

Evidence of the $K^+\to\mu^+\nu\bar\nu\nu$ decay was searched for using E949 experimental data with an exposure of $1.70\times 10^{12}$ stopped kaons. The data sample is dominated by the backgrond process $K^+\to\mu^+\nu_\mu\gamma$. An upper limit on the decay rate $\Gamma(K^+\to\mu^+\nu\bar\nu\nu)< 2.4\times 10^{-6}\Gamma(K^+\to all)$ at 90% confidence level was set assuming the Standard Model muon spectrum. The data are presented in such a way as to allow calculation of rat...

We present a measurement of $B(\pi^0 \rightarrow e^+e^- \gamma)/B(\pi^0 \rightarrow \gamma\gamma)$, the Dalitz branching ratio, using data taken in 1999 by the E832 KTeV experiment at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. We use neutral pions from fully reconstructed $K_L$ decays in flight; the measurement is based on about 60 thousand $K_L \rightarrow \pi^0\pi^0\pi^0 \rightarrow \gamma\gamma~\gamma\gamma~e^+e^-\gamma$ decays. We normalize to $K_L \rightarrow \pi^0\pi^0\pi^0...

A search for the decay $B_{s}^0 \rightarrow \overline{K}{}^{*0}\mu^+\mu^-$ is presented using data sets corresponding to 1.0, 2.0 and 1.6 $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected during $pp$ collisions with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. An excess is found over the background-only hypothesis with a significance of 3.4 standard deviations. The branching fraction of the $B_{s}^0 \rightarrow \overline{K}{}^{*0}\mu^+\mu...

We observe 441 K_{L} -> e^{+} e^{-} e^{+} e^{-} candidate events with a background of 4.2 events and measure B(K_{L} -> e^{+} e^{-} e^{+} e^{-}) = (3.72 \pm 0.18(stat) \pm 0.23(syst)) \times 10^{-8} in the KTeV/E799II experiment at Fermilab. Using the distribution of the angle between the planes of the e^{+} e^{-} pairs, we measure the CP parameters beta_{CP} = -0.23 \pm 0.09(stat) \pm 0.02(syst) and gamma_{CP} = -0.09 \pm 0.09(stat) \pm 0.02(syst). We also present the first ...

In an experiment designed to search for and study very rare two-body decay modes of the K-long, we have observed four examples of the decay K-long -> e+ e-, where the expected background is 0.17+-0.10 events. This observation translates into a branching fraction of 8.7^{+5.7}_{-4.1} X 10^{-12}, consistent with recent theoretical predictions. This result represents by far the smallest branching fraction yet measured in particle physics.

The branching ratio of the rare decay pi^0 -> e^+e^- has been measured in E799-II, a rare kaon decay experiment using the KTeV detector at Fermilab. The pi^0's were produced in fully-reconstructed K_L -> 3 pi^0 decays in flight. We observed 275 candidate pi^0 -> e^+e^- events, with an expected background of 21.4 +- 6.2 events which includes the contribution from Dalitz decays. We measured BR(pi^0 -> e^+e^-, x>0.95) = (6.09 +- 0.40 +- 0.24) times 10^{-8}, where the first error...

We report on a search for the decay Kl -> pi0 e+ e- carried out by the KTeV/E799 experiment at Fermilab. This decay is expected to have a significant CP violating contribution and the measurement of its branching ratio could support the CKM mechanism for CP violation or could point to new physics. Two events were observed in the 1997 data with an expected background of 1.06 +-0.41 events, and we set an upper limit Br(Kl -> pi0 e+ e-) < 5.1 x 10^-10 at the 90% confidence level...
