Ongoing experiments at JLAB investigate the nuclear transparency in exclusive rho0(770) electroproduction off nuclei. In this work we present transport model predictions for the attenuation of rho0s in nuclei and for color transparency (CT) effects as observable at CLAS with a 5 GeV electron beam energy. A full event simulation presented here permits to study the impact of actual experimental acceptance conditions and kinematical cuts. The exclusive (e,e'rho0) cross section o...

The exclusive production of $\rho^0$ mesons in deep inelastic electron-proton scattering has been studied using the ZEUS detector. Cross sections have been measured in the range $7 < Q^2 < 25$ GeV$^2$ for $\gamma^*p$ centre of mass (c.m.) energies from 40 to 130 GeV. The $\gamma^*p \to \rho^0 p$ cross section exhibits a $Q^{-(4.2 \pm 0.8 ^{+1.4}_{-0.5})}$ dependence and both longitudinally and transversely polarised $\rho^0$'s are observed. The $\gamma^*p \to \rho^0 p$ cross ...

We investigate meson electroproduction off complex nuclei in the kinematic regime of the HERMES experiment using a semi-classical transport model which is based on the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) equation. We discuss coherence length and color transparency effects in exclusive rho^0 production as well as hadron formation and attenuation of charged pions, kaons, protons and anti-protons in deep inelastic lepton scattering off nuclei.

Within a light-cone QCD formalism based on the Green function technique incorporating color transparency, coherence length effects and gluon shadowing we study electroproduction of vector mesons off nuclei. We found rather large color transparency effects in the range of Q^2 < 10-20 GeV^2. They are stronger at low than at high energies and can be easily identified by HERMES or at JLab. We provide predictions for incoherent and coherent vector meson production for future measu...

Color Transparency refers to the vanishing of the hadron-nucleon interaction for hadrons produced inside a nucleus in high momentum exclusive processes. We briefly review the concept behind this unique Quantum Chromo Dynamics' phenomenon, the experimental search for its onset and the recent progress made at intermediate energies.

We argue that study of the cross section of coherent photo(electro) production of $\rho,\rho^{\prime}, ...$-mesons provides an effective method to probe onset of black body limit(BBL) in the soft and hard QCD interactions. We illustrate the expected features of the onset of BBL using generalized vector dominance model(GVDM). We show that this model describes very well $\rho$-meson coherent photoproduction at $6 \leq E_{\gamma} \leq 10$ GeV. The advantages of the process of co...

Color transparency is the vanishing of nuclear initial or final state interactions involving specific reactions. The reasons for believing that color transparency might be a natural consequence of QCD are reviewed. The main impetus for this talk is recent experimental progress, and this is reviewed briefly.

Color transparency (CT) is an effect of suppression of nuclear shadowing of hard reactions, closely related to the color screening. A brief review of theoretical development and experimental search for CT, failed and successful, are presented. A special emphasis is made on a quantum-mechanical nature of CT, as opposed to a wide spread erroneousclassical treatment of this phenomenon. The typical predictions of the classical approach, all contradicting quantum mechanics are: ...

Coherent electroproduction of vector mesons off $^2$H and $^4$He is considered in the kinematics of deep inelastic scattering. Special emphasis is given to the $-t\sim 0.8-1$ GeV$^2$ region where the cross section is dominated by the interaction of the $q\bar q$ configuration in the $\gamma^*$ with two nucleons. These kinematics provide the unique possibilities to study quantitatively in vector meson production the onset of Color Transparency with increasing $Q^2$ as well as ...

The semi-analytical approach to the model independent leptonic QED corrections to exclusive $\rho^0$ meson leptoproduction (i.e. electron and muon scattering experiments) is presented. The corrections to $\rho^0$ production at large $Q^2$ as well as to $\rho^0$ photoproduction are studied in details. The numerical results are calculated for two different experimental analyses: NMC (muoproduction at large $Q^2$) and ZEUS at HERA (photoproduction). It is shown that the correcti...
