The strong electromagnetic fields associated with high energy protons and nuclei may lead to exclusive photoproduction of vector mesons in proton-proton and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC. This paper will discuss the expected cross sections and rapidity and transverse momentum distributions.

One of the challenging aspects of electroproduction at high-energy is the understanding of the transition from real photons to virtual photons in the GeV^2 region. We study inclusive electroproduction on the proton at small x_B using a nonperturbative dipole-proton cross section calculated from the gauge invariant gluon field correlators as input. By quark-hadron duality, we construct a photon light cone wave function which links the ``hadronic'' behavior at small Q^2 to the ...

Using methods developed for hard exclusive QCD processes, we calculate the asymptotic behaviour of heavy-meson form factors at large recoil. It is determined by the leading- and subleading-twist meson wave functions. For $1\ll |v\cdot v'|\ll m_Q/\Lambda$, the form factors are dominated by the Isgur--Wise function, which is determined by the interference between the wave functions of leading and subleading twist. At $|v\cdot v'|\gg m_Q/\Lambda$, they are dominated by two funct...

We investigate the momentum transfer dependence of differential cross sections $d\sigma/dt$ in diffractive electroproduction of heavy quarkonia on proton targets. Model predictions for $d\sigma/dt$ within the light-front QCD dipole formalism are based on a realistic model for a proper correlation between the impact parameter $\vec b$ of a collision and color dipole orientation $\vec r$. We demonstrate a significance of $\vec b-\vec r$ correlation by comparing with a standard ...

The electromagnetic form factors of hadrons at large momentum transfer have been the subject of intense theoretical and experimental scrutiny over the past two decades, yet there is still not a universally-accepted framework for their description. This review is a synopsis of their current status at large momentum transfer. The basic theoretical approaches to form factors at large momentum transfer are developed, emphasizing the valence quark and Feynman (soft) pictures. The ...

We calculate Higher Order corrections to the resolved component of the electroproduction cross section of large-Et hadrons. The parton distributions in the virtual photon are studied in detail and a NLO parametrization of the latter is proposed. The contribution of the resolved component to the forward production of large-Et hadrons is calculated and its connection with the BFKL cross section is discussed.

The mini-proceedings of the Workshop on Meson Transition Form Factors held in Cracow from May 29th to 30th, 2012 introduce the meson transition form factor project with special emphasis on the interrelations between the various form factors (on-shell, single off-shell, double off-shell). Short summaries of the talks presented at the workshop follow.

The main assumption of the model is that in soft processes mesons behave like systems made of valence quarks and an effective vacuum- like field. The 4-momentum of the latter represents the relativistic generalization of the potential energy. The electromagnetic form factors are expressed in terms of the overlap integral of the initial and final wave functions written under the form of Lorentz covariant distribution of quark momenta. The calculation is fully Lorentz covariant...

This is a contribution to the review 50 Years of Quantum Chromodynamics edited by F. Gross and E. Klempt, to be published in Journal EPJC. This contribution reviews the nucleon resonance transition form factors determined from meson electro-production experiments at electron accelerator facilities, i.e. this contribution focuses on space-like transition form factors and amplitudes. Comparisons are made when available to LQCD and to approaches with traceable links to strong QC...

We study light vector meson electroproduction at small $x$ within the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) model. The modified perturbative approach is used, where the quark transverse degrees of freedom in the vector meson wave function and hard subprocess are considered. Our results on the cross section and spin observables are in good agreement with experiment
