We present a short review of the present status of the problem of neutrino masses and mixing including a survey of theoretical motivations and models, experimental searches and implications of recently appeared solar and atmospheric neutrino data, which strongly indicate nonzero neutrino masses. Such data apparently requires the existence of light sterile neutrino in addition to the three active ones and two-generation nearly maximal mixing.

The recent progress in establishing the existence of finite neutrino masses and mixing between generations of neutrinos has been remarkable, if not astounding. The combined results from studies of atmospheric neutrinos, solar neutrinos, and reactor antineutrinos paint an intriguing picture for theorists and provide clear motivation for future experimental studies. In this review, we summarize the status of experimental and theoretical work in this field and explore the future...

In the last two decades experiments have established the existence of neutrino oscillations and most of the related parameters have by now been measured with reasonable accuracy. These results have accomplished a major progress for particle physics and cosmology. At present neutrino physics is a most vital domain of particle physics and cosmology and the existing open questions are of crucial importance. We review the present status of the subject, the main lessons that we ha...

Measurements of various features of the fluxes of atmospheric and solar neutrinos have provided evidence for neutrino oscillations and therefore for neutrino masses and mixing. We review the phenomenology of neutrino oscillations in vacuum and in matter. We present the existing evidence from solar and atmospheric neutrinos as well as the results from laboratory searches, including the final status of the LSND experiment. We describe the theoretical inputs that are used to int...

A revolution in our understanding of the neutrino sector is underway, driven by observations that are interpreted in terms of changes in neutrino flavors as they propagate. Since neutrino oscillations occur only if neutrinos are massive, these phenomena indicate physics beyond the Standard Model. With the present evidence for oscillations from atmospheric, solar and accelerator data, we are already able to begin to make strong inferences about the mass spectrum and mixings of...
