In this talk, I briefly review several models of the heavy quarkonium production at collider energies, and discuss the status of QCD factorization for these production models.

These lectures contain an elementary introduction to heavy quark symmetry and the heavy quark expansion. Applications such as the expansion of heavy meson decay constants and the treatment of inclusive and exclusive semileptonic $B$ decays are included. Heavy hadron production via nonperturbative fragmentation processes is also discussed.

Before wondering about the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), one has to take into account various cold (normal) nuclear matter effects, that can be probed through p+A like collisions. This article aims at reviewing the current results (and understanding) of these effects on heavy quarks and quarkonia production.

In this talk I briefly review the recent progress in calculation of the high order corrections to the parameters of the nonrelativistic heavy quark-antiquark system in the effective theory approach.

We give an introduction to the heavy-quark effective theory and the $1/m_Q$ expansion, which provide the modern framework for a systematic, model-independent description of the properties and decays of hadrons containing a heavy quark. We discuss the applications of these concepts to spectroscopy and to the weak decays of $B$ mesons.

I review and discuss a selected sample of recent results in pNRQCD.

Introductory lectures (delivered at the VI Mexican School of Particles and Fields) on heavy quarks and heavy quark effective field theory. Applications to inclusive semileptonic decays and to interactions with light mesons are covered in detail.

I review some recent developments in the theory of heavy quarkonium in an effective field theory framework.

The chiral and heavy quark symmetries of QCD are reviewed. These symmetries are used to predict some low-momentum properties of hadrons containing a single heavy quark. (Lectures given at the CCAST Symposium on Particle Physics at the Fermi Scale May27-June4,1993)
