We point out that existing $K^+d$ scattering data available in the PDG (Particle Data Group compilation) suggest some fluctuations in those momentum bins where the (Fermi motion broadened) $\Theta^+$[1543] resonance recently indicated in many gamma nuclear reactions and predicted six years ago by Diakonv Petrov and Polyakov might have shown up. The I=0, $J^P={1/2}^+$ P-wave channel should have a universal peak cross section of $\sim 37$ mb at resonance. The smallness of the e...

Our talk is intended for the session in memory of Mitya Diakonov. The problem is considered of existence of flavor multiplets consisting of multi-quark baryons. We have argued that the S-matrix should have poles, at least Regge ones, with any quantum numbers, including exotic. This is a novel argument for possible a proof, yet there are no theoretical arguments to forbid exotics. Then we apply the partial-wave analysis (PWA) with addressing mainly to the non-strange exotic me...

We analyze the problem of how to determine the parity of the $\Theta^+$ pentaquark in the reaction $\gamma N\to K\Theta\to NK\bar{K}$, where $N=n,p$. Our model calculations indicate that the contribution of the non-resonant background of the reaction $\gamma N\to NK\bar{K}$ cannot be neglected, and that suggestions to determine the parity based solely on the initial-stage process $\gamma N\to K\Theta$ cannot be implemented cleanly. We discuss the various mechanisms that contr...

If a narrow Theta^+ pentaquark exists, it is likely that a ud\bar s-ud triquark-diquark configuration is a significant component of its wave function. If so, the mechanism responsible for the binding of a triquark and a diquark is also likely to bind the triquark to an \bar s antiquark. We discuss the expected properties of such a ud\bar s-\bar s tetraquark meson. In particular, we point out that for a 0^+ isoscalar ud\bar s\bar s meson the lowest allowed decay mode is a four...

Motivated by the recent discovery of the exotic S=+1 narrow baryon resonance Theta^+ at 1540 MeV, with quark content {uudd sbar}, we conjecture the existence of its anti-charmed analogue Theta_c, with quark content {uudd cbar}, and compute its likely properties. We rely on the recently constructed model of a novel kind of a pentaquark with an unusual color structure which provides a good approximation to the Theta^+ mass. We expect that Theta_c is an isosinglet with J^P=1/2^+...

We investigate the photoproduction of the $\Theta^+(1540)$ on a nucleon ($\gamma n \to K^- \Theta^+$, $\gamma p \to \bar{K}^0 \Theta^+$) and the pion-induced $\Theta^+$ production reaction on the proton ($\pi^- p \to K^- \Theta^+$). The total cross sections near threshold are estimated by using hadronic models with effective interaction Lagrangians and form factors that preserve gauge-invariance of the electromagnetic current. The photoproduction cross sections are found to b...

The newly discovered exotic $\Theta$ baryon of mass 1540 MeV (and very small width) truly has a very low mass, if it is a pentaquark system of even parity. A schematic model in which the coherent interaction of $u\bar s$ and $d\bar s$ pairs leads to a very large residual (non-confining) attractive interaction is introduced. This collective vibrational model accounts for the mass and small decay width to the $KN$ channel, but yields a significant coupling to the virtual $K^*N$...

$\Theta^+$ is a putative light pentaquark state of positive parity with minimal quark content $(uudd\bar{s})$. It naturally emerges in chiral models for baryons, but experimental evidence is uncertain. We review the theoretical foundations of chiral models and their phenomenological applications to exotic states. In particular, we discuss in detail the pentaquark widths with special emphasis on the cancellations occurring in the decay operator. We also discuss some experiment...

We present in this talk recent results of the vector and axial-vector transitions of the nucleon to the pentaquark baryon Theta^{+}, based on the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. The results are summarized as follows: K^{*}-N-Theta vector and tensor coupling constants turn out to be g_{K^{*}N Theta} = 0.81 and f_{K^{*}N Theta}=0.84, respectively, and the KN Theta axial-vector coupling constant to be g_{A}^* = 0.05. As a result, the total decay width for Theta^+ to NK becomes...

Since all couplings of the exotic $\Theta^+$ baryon to normal hadrons seem to be small it is hard to reveal it in standard resonance searching. We suggest to look for the $\Theta^+$ production in interference with a known resonance yielding the same final state but having a high production rate. The interference process is linear in the $\Theta^+$ couplings whereas the non-interference process is quadratic. That gives an obvious gain if the couplings are small. Moreover, empl...
