We consider the possibility of fingerprinting the presence of heavy additional Z' bosons that arise naturally in extensions of the standard model such as E_6 models and left-right symmetric models, through their mixing with the standard model Z boson. By considering a class of observables including total cross sections, energy distributions and angular distributions of decay leptons we find significant deviation from the standard model predictions for these quantities with ri...

The grand unified group $E_6$~is a predictive scheme for physics beyond the standard model (SM). It offers the possibility of extra $Z$ bosons, new vector-like fermions, sterile neutrinos, and neutral scalars in addition to the SM Higgs boson. Some previous discussions of these features are updated and extended. Their relevance to present searches at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and in patterns of neutrino masses is noted. Addition of a small set of scalar bosons at the TeV...

We explore the effects of extra neutral gauge boson involved in the supersymmetric E6 model on the spin configuration of the top quark pair produced at the polarized e- e+ collider. Generic mixing terms are considered including kinetic mixing terms as well as mass mixing. In the off-diagonal spin basis of the standard model, we show that the cross sections for the suppressed spin configurations can be enhanced with the effects of the Z' boson through the modification of the s...

We point out that in a large class of superstring--inspired $E(6)$ models, either an e+e- collider operating at a center--of--mass energy $\rs= 1.5$ TeV or higher must detect the pair production of charged or neutral exotic leptons, or an e+e- collider with $\rs \geq 300$ GeV must discover at least one light neutral Higgs boson with invisible branching ratio exceeding 50\%. If neither of these two signals is seen, the lightest neutral exotic lepton would overclose the univers...

Local supersymmetry (SUSY) provides an attractive framework for the incorporation of gravity and unification of gauge interactions within Grand Unified Theories (GUTs). Its breakdown can lead to a variety of models with softly broken SUSY at low energies. In this review article we focus on the SUSY extension of the Standard Model (SM) with an extra U(1)_{N} gauge symmetry originating from a string-inspired E_6 grand unified gauge group. Only in this U(1) extension of the mini...

Conventional superstring derived E$_6$ models can accommodate small neutrino masses if a discrete symmetry is imposed which forbids tree level Dirac neutrino masses but allows for radiative mass generation. Since the only possible symmetries of this kind are known to be generation dependent, we explore the possibility that the three sets of light states in each generation do not have the same assignments with respect to the 27 of $E_6$, leading to non universal gauge interact...

We investigate the phenomenology of scalar diquarks with sub-TeV masses within the framework of the $E_6$ Supersymmetric Standard Model (E$_6$SSM) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Focusing on the lightest of the six diquarks predicted by the model, we select some representative low masses for them in a parameter space region consistent with experimental constraints from direct searches for additional Higgs boson(s), Cold Dark Matter (CDM), and supersymmetry, as well as fro...

We investigate the possibility of studying E$_6$ phenomenology at high energy hadron colliders. The production of heavy leptons pairs {\it via} a gluon-gluon fusion mechanism is discussed. An enhancement in the parton level cross-section is expected due to the heavy (s)fermion loops which couple to the gluons.

We show that superstring inspired $E_6$ models can explain both the recently detected excess $eejj$ and $e\ \rm{missing}\ p_T \ jj$ signals at CMS, and also allow for leptogenesis. Working in a R-parity conserving low energy supersymmetric effective model, we show that the excess CMS events can be produced via the decay of exotic sleptons in Alternative Left-Right Symmetric Model of $E_6$, which can also accommodate leptogenesis at a high scale. On the other hand, either the ...

We report the most general expression for the chiral charges of a $Z'$ gauge boson coming from an $E_6$ unification model, as a function of the electroweak parameters and the charges of the $U(1)$ factors in the chain of subgroups. These charges are valid for an arbitrary Higgs sector and only depend on the branching rules of the $E_6$ fundamental representation and the corresponding rules for the fermionic representations of their subgroups. By assuming $E_6$ unification, th...
