We show some recent HERWIG results related to the top quark mass measurement at the LHC and discuss possible improvements for studies of the bottom quark fragmentation function in the top decay.

The mass of the top quark has been measured at Fermilab using the Tevatron ppbar collider to a precision of less than 1%. I discuss the individual measurements that go into this result and its impact on our understanding of the standard model of the electroweak interactions.

The top-quark mass is a parameter of paramount importance in particle physics, playing a crucial role in the electroweak precision tests and in the stability of the Standard Model vacuum. I will discuss the main strategies to extract the top-quark mass at the LHC and the interpretation of the measurements in terms of well-posed top-mass definitions, taking particular care about renormalon ambiguities, progress in Monte Carlo event generators for top physics and theoretical un...

I discuss the theoretical interpretation of the top-quark mass, which is extracted in standard and alternative measurements at the LHC. In particular, I point out that the top mass extracted in analyses relying on the use of Monte Carlo event generators must be close to the pole mass and review recent work aiming at estimating the theoretical uncertainty.

I briefly report on what we can learn about the top quark at hadron colliders.

Direct and indirect information on the top quark mass and its decay modes is reviewed. The theory of top production in hadron- and electron-positron-colliders is presented.

(Report of the Top Physics working group at the 1996 DPF/DPB Snowmass workshop, to appear in the proceedings). We discuss the study of the top quark at future experiments and machines. Top's large mass makes it a unique probe of physics at the natural electroweak scale. We emphasize measurements of the top quark's mass, width, and couplings, as well as searches for rare or nonstandard decays, and discuss the complementary roles played by hadron and lepton colliders.

I briefly overview the methods employed at the LHC to extract the top-quark mass, taking particular care about the theory uncertainty and the dependence on the Monte Carlo hadronization parameters.

The top-quark mass is one of the fundamental parameters of the Standard Model of particle physics. The latest ATLAS measurements of the top-quark mass in top quark pair final states are presented. Measurements use di-lepton, lepton+jets and all-jets final states and their combination is performed. Measurements of the top-quark pole mass based on precision theoretical QCD calculations for lepton kinematic distribution and for top quark pair production with an additional jet ar...

Future lepton colliders will have a rich top quark physics program which would add to our understanding of this interesting quark and promise an ultimate precision on the experimental knowledge of top-quark mass. We present possible improvements in the understanding of systematic uncertainties for various top-quark mass measurement techniques at the LHC, including projections for running conditions foreseen in the future.
