The possible role of gravity in a noncommutative geometry is investigated. Due to the Moyal *-product of fields in noncommutative geometry, it is necessary to complexify the metric tensor of gravity. We first consider the possibility of a complex Hermitian, nonsymmetric $g_{\mu\nu}$ and discuss the problems associated with such a theory. We then introduce a complex symmetric (non-Hermitian) metric, with the associated complex connection and curvature, as the basis of a noncom...

In this paper we investigate the possibility of constructing a complete quantization procedure consisting of geometric and deformation quantization. The latter assigns a noncommutative algebra to a symplectic manifold, by deforming the ordinary pointwise product of functions, whereas geometric quantization is a prescription for the construction of a Hilbert space and a few quantum operators, starting from a symplectic manifold. We determine under which conditions it is possib...

We show that the deformation quantization of non-commutative quantum mechanics previously considered by Dias and Prata can be expressed as a Weyl calculus on a double phase space. We study the properties of the star-product thus defined, and prove a spectral theorem for the star-genvalue equation using an extension of the methods recently initiated by de Gosson and Luef.

We show that a nonlinear Schr\"odinger wave equation can reproduce all the features of linear quantum mechanics. This nonlinear wave equation is obtained by exploring, in a uniform language, the transition from fully classical theory governed by a nonlinear classical wave equation to quantum theory. The classical wave equation includes a nonlinear classicality enforcing potential which when eliminated transforms the wave equation into the linear Schr\"odinger equation. We sho...

We investigate scattering properties of a Moyal deformed version of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation in an even number of space dimensions. With rather weak conditions on the degree of nonlinearity, the Cauchy problem for general initial data has a unique globally defined solution, and also has soliton solutions if the interaction potential is suitably chosen. We demonstrate how to set up a scattering framework for equations of this type, including appropriate decay estim...

The Moyal *-deformed noncommutative version of Burgers' equation is considered. Using the *-analog of the Cole-Hopf transformation, the linearization of the model in terms of the linear heat equation is found. Noncommutative q-deformations of shock soliton solutions and their interaction are described

Four formulations of quantum mechanics on noncommutative Moyal phase spaces are reviewed. These are the canonical, path-integral, Weyl-Wigner and systematic formulations. Although all these formulations represent quantum mechanics on a phase space with the same deformed Heisenberg algebra, there are mathematical and conceptual differences which we discuss.

A motivation of using noncommutative and nonarchimedean geometry on very short distances is given. Besides some mathematical preliminaries, we give a short introduction in adelic quantum mechanics. We also recall to basic ideas and tools embedded in q-deformed and noncommutative quantum mechanics. A rather fundamental approach, called deformation quantization, is noted. A few relations between noncommutativity and nonarchimedean spaces as well as similarities between correspo...

Using noncommutative deformed canonical commutation relations, a model describing a noncommutative complex scalar field theory is considered. Using the path integral formalism, the noncommutative free and exact propagators are calculated to one-loop order and to the second order in the parameter of noncommutativity. Dimensional regularization was used to remove ultraviolet divergences that arise from loop graphs. It has been shown that these divergences may also be absorbed i...

We consider electrodynamics on a noncommutative spacetime using the enveloping algebra approach and perform a non-relativistic expansion of the effective action. We obtain the Hamiltonian for quantum mechanics formulated on a canonical noncommutative spacetime. An interesting new feature of quantum mechanics formulated on a noncommutative spacetime is an intrinsic electric dipole moment. We note however that noncommutative intrinsic dipole moments are not observable in presen...
