We present a bibliography compilation on magnetic monopoles updated to include references till the end of year 1999. It is intended to contain nearly all the experimental papers on the subject and only the theoretical papers which have some specific experimental implications.

Certain nontopological magnetic monopoles, recently found by Lee and Weinberg, are reinterpreted as topological solitons of a non-Abelian gauged Higgs model. Our study makes the nature of the Lee-Weinberg monopoles more transparent, especially with regard to their singularity structure.

A non-perturbative solution to strong CP problem is proposed. It is shown that the gauge orbit space with gauge potentials and gauge tranformations restricted on the space boundary in non-abelian gauge theories with a $\theta$ term has a magnetic monopole structure if there is a magnetic monopole in the ordinary space. The Dirac's quantization condition in the corresponding quantum theories ensures that the vacuum angle $\theta$ in the gauge theories must be quantized. The qu...

After a short historical introduction and description of the properties of the magnetic monopole we briefly discuss the search for monopoles produced at accelerators and from the cosmos. We present in a little more detail the latest LHC experiment, MoEDAL, specifically designed to continue the search for the magnetic monopole and other highly ionizing messengers of new physics at the TeV scale. Lastly we mention a proposal to continue the search for monopoles with flux below ...

The bibliography compilation on magnetic monopoles is updated to include references from 2000 till mid 2011. It is intended to contain all experimental papers on the subject and only the theoretical papers which have specific experimental implications.

A loop space formulation of Yang-Mills theory high-lighting the significance of monopoles for the existence of gauge potentials is used to derive a generalization of electric-magnetic duality to the nonabelian theory. The result implies that the gauge symmetry is doubled from SU(N) to $SU(N) \times \widetilde{SU}(N)$, while the physical degrees of freedom remain the same, so that the theory can be described in terms of either the usual Yang-Mills potential $A_\mu(x)$ or its d...

The Tevatron has inspired new interest in the subject of magnetic monopoles. First there was the 1998 D0 limit on the virtual production of monopoles, based on the theory of Ginzberg and collaborators. In 2000 the first results from an experiment (Fermilab E882) searching for real magnetically charged particles bound to elements from the CDF and D0 detectors were reported. This also required new developments in theory. The status of the experimental limits on monopole masses ...

We show that the non-Abelian magnetic monopole defined in a gauge-invariant way in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory gives a dominant contribution to confinement of the fundamental quark, in sharp contrast to the SU(2) case.

These notes present a pedagogical introduction to magnetic monopoles and exact electromagnetic duality in supersymmetric gauge theories. They are based on lectures given at the 1995 Trieste Summer School in High Energy Physics and Cosmology and at the 1995 Busstepp Summer School at Cosener's House.
