Lagrangians linear in velocities were analyzed using the fractional calculus and the Euler-Lagrange equations were derived. Two examples were investigated in details, the explicit solutions of Euler-Lagrange equations were obtained and the recovery of the classical results was discussed.

An investigation of classical fields with fractional derivatives is presented using the fractional Hamiltonian formulation. The fractional Hamilton's equations are obtained for two classical field examples. The formulation presented and the resulting equations are very similar to those appearing in classical field theory.

Fractional mechanics describes both conservative and non-conservative systems. The fractional variational principles gained importance in studying the fractional mechanics and several versions are proposed. In classical mechanics the equivalent Lagrangians play an important role because they admit the same Euler-Lagrange equations. By adding a total time derivative of a suitable function to a given classical Lagrangian or by multiplying with a constant the Lagrangian we obtai...

This paper presents the Euler-Lagrange equations for fractional variational problems with multiple integrals. The fractional Noether-type theorem for conservative and nonconservative generalized physical systems is proved. Our approach uses well-known notion of the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative.

Fractional analysis is applied to describe classical dynamical systems. Fractional derivative can be defined as a fractional power of derivative. The infinitesimal generators {H, .} and L=G(q,p) \partial_q+F(q,p) \partial_p, which are used in equations of motion, are derivative operators. We consider fractional derivatives on a set of classical observables as fractional powers of derivative operators. As a result, we obtain a fractional generalization of the equation of motio...

We prove Euler-Lagrange fractional equations and sufficient optimality conditions for problems of the calculus of variations with functionals containing both fractional derivatives and fractional integrals in the sense of Riemann-Liouville.

Fractional variational approach has gained much attention in recent years. There are famous fractional derivatives such as Caputo derivative, Riesz derivative and Riemann-Liouville derivative. Several versions of fractional variational principles are proposed. However, it becomes difficult to apply the existing fractional variational theories to fractional differential models, due to the definitions of fractional variational derivatives which not only contain the left fractio...

The fractional quantization of singular systems with second order Lagrangian is examined. The fractional singular Lagrangian is presented. The equations of motion are written as total differential equations within fractional calculus. Also, the set of Hamilton Jacobi partial differential equations is constructed in fractional form. The path integral formulation and path integral quantization for these systems are constructed within fractional derivatives. We examined a mathem...

We present both the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian procedures for treating higher-order equations of motion for mechanical models by adopting the Riemann-Liouville Fractional integral to describe their action. We point out and discuss its efficacy and difficulties. We also present the physical and geometric interpretations for the approach we pursue and present the details of a higher-order harmonic oscillator.
