In this paper, the different operator forms of classical Yang-Baxter equation are given in the tensor expression through a unified algebraic method. It is closely related to left-symmetric algebras which play an important role in many fields in mathematics and mathematical physics. By studying the relations between left-symmetric algebras and classical Yang-Baxter equation, we can construct left-symmetric algebras from certain classical r-matrices and conversely, there is a n...

The fundamental problem of knot theory is to know whether two knots are equivalent or not. As a tool to prove that two knots are different, mathematicians have developed various invariants. Knots invariants are just functions that can be computed from the knot and depend only on the topology of the knot. Here we describe quantum invariants, a powerful family of invariants related to the celebrated Yang-Baxter equation.

An operator deformed quantum algebra is discovered exploiting the quantum Yang-Baxter equation with trigonometric R-matrix. This novel Hopf algebra along with its $q \to 1$ limit appear to be the most general Yang-Baxter algebra underlying quantum integrable systems. Three different directions of application of this algebra in integrable systems depending on different sets of values of deforming operators are identified. Fixed values on the whole lattice yield subalgebras lin...

We give a new construction of a Hopf subalgebra of the Hopf algebra of Free quasi-symmetric functions whose bases are indexed by objects belonging to the Baxter combinatorial family (i.e. Baxter permutations, pairs of twin binary trees, etc.). This construction relies on the definition of the Baxter monoid, analog of the plactic monoid and the sylvester monoid, and on a Robinson-Schensted-like insertion algorithm. The algebraic properties of this Hopf algebra are studied. Thi...

The search for elliptic quantum groups leads to a modified quantum Yang-Baxter relation and to a special class of quasi-triangular quasi Hopf algebras. This paper calculates deformations of standard quantum groups (with or without spectral parameter) in the category of quasi-Hopf algebras. An earlier investigation of the deformations of quantum groups, in the category of Hopf algebras, showed that quantum groups are generically rigid: Hopf algebra deformations exist only unde...

Two types of Yang-Baxter systems play roles in the theoretical physics -- constant and colour dependent. The constant systems are used mainly for construction of special Hopf algebra while the colour or spectral dependent for construction of quantum integrable models. Examples of both types together with their particular solutions are presented. The complete solution is known only for the constant system related to the quantized braided groups in the dimension two. The strate...

Recently, the theory of renormalization in perturbative quantum field theory underwent some exciting new developments. Kreimer discovered an organization of Feynman graphs into combinatorial Hopf algebras. The process of renormalization is captured by a factorization theorem for regularized Hopf algebra characters. In this context the notion of Rota-Baxter algebras enters the scene. We review several aspects of Rota-Baxter algebras as they appear in other sectors also relevan...

This talk is inspired by two previous ICM talks, by V.Drinfeld (1986) and G.Felder (1994). Namely, one of the main ideas of Drinfeld's talk is that the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (QYBE), which is an important equation arising in quantum field theory and statistical mechanics, is best understood within the framework of Hopf algebras, or quantum groups. On the other hand, in Felder's talk, it is explained that another important equation of mathematical physics, the star-trian...

A general functional definition of the infinite dimensional quantum $R$-matrix satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation is given. A procedure for the extracting a finite dimensional $R$-matrix from the general definition is demonstrated in a particular case when the group $SU(2)$ takes place.

We present a method for Baxterizing solutions of the constant Yang-Baxter equation associated with $\mathbb{Z}$-graded Hopf algebras. To demonstrate the approach, we provide examples for the Taft algebras and the quantum group $U_q[sl(2)]$.
