We show that the background field method applied to supergravity in adS space-time provides the path integral for the theory in the bulk with conformal symmetry associated with the isometry of the adS space. This in turn allows to establish the rigid conformal invariance of the generating functional for the supergravity correlators on the boundary.

In this report I wish to recall how the basic concepts and ingredients of supergravity were formulated by Dmitrij V. Volkov and the present author in 1973-74 under the first investigation of the super-Higgs effect .

The conformal compensator formalism is a convenient and versatile representation of supergravity (SUGRA) obtained by gauge fixing conformal SUGRA. Unfortunately, practical calculations often require cumbersome manipulations of component field terms involving the full gravity multiplet. In this paper, we derive an alternative gauge fixing for conformal SUGRA which decouples these gravity complications from SUGRA computations. This yields a simplified tree-level action for the ...

We provide a unified description of the three covariant superspace approaches to ${\cal N}=2$ conformal supergravity in four dimensions: (i) conformal superspace; (ii) $\mathsf{U}(2)$ superspace; and (iii) $\mathsf{SU}(2)$ superspace. Each of them can be used to formulate general supergravity-matter systems, although conformal superspace has the largest structure group and is intimately related to the superconformal tensor calculus. We review the structure of covariant projec...

Building on an analogy with ordinary scalar field theories, an epsilon expansion for rank-3 tensorial group field theories with gauge invariance condition is introduced. This allows to continuously interpolate between the dimension four group SU(2) X U(1) and the dimension three SU(2). In the first situation, there is a unique marginal 4-valent coupling constant, but in contrast to ordinary scalar field theory this model is asymptotically free. In the SU(2) case, the presence...

Using a simple solvable model, i.e., Higgs--Yukawa system with an infinite number of flavors, we explicitly demonstrate how a dimensional continuation of the $\beta$ function in two dimensional MS scheme {\it fails\/} to reproduce the correct behavior of the $\beta$ function in four dimensions. The mapping between coupling constants in two dimensional MS scheme and a conventional scheme in the cutoff regularization, in which the dimensional continuation of the $\beta$ functio...

We present a theory of N=2 chiral supergravity in (10+2)-dimensions. This formulation is similar to N=1 supergravity presented recently using null-vectors in 12D. In order to see the consistency of this theory, we perform a simple dimensional reduction to ten-dimensions, reproducing the type IIB chiral supergravity. We also show that our supergravity can be consistent background for super (2+2)-brane theory, satisfying fermionic invariance of the total action. Such supergravi...

It has been shown recently that the introduction of an unphysical $\epsilon$-scalar mass $\tilde{m}$ is necessary for the proper renormalization of softly broken supersymmetric theories by dimensional reduction ($\drbar$). In these theories, both the two-loop $\beta$-functions of the scalar masses and their one-loop finite corrections depend on $\tilde{m}^2$. We find, however, that the dependence on $\tilde{m}^2$ can be completely removed by slightly modifying the \drbar reno...

General $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ supergravity-matter systems in six dimensions may be described using one of the two fully fledged superspace formulations for conformal supergravity: (i) $\mathsf{SU}(2)$ superspace; and (ii) conformal superspace. With motivation to develop rigid supersymmetric field theories in curved space, this paper is devoted to the study of the geometric symmetries of supergravity backgrounds. In particular, we introduce the notion of a conformal Killing spin...
