We investigate $O(N)$-symmetric vector field theories in the double scaling limit. Our model describes branched polymeric systems in $D$ dimensions, whose multicritical series interpolates between the Cayley tree and the ordinary random walk. We give explicit forms of residual divergences in the free energy, analogous to those observed in the strings in one dimension.

The 1/N expansion of the two-particle irreducible (2PI) effective action is employed to compute universal properties at the second-order phase transition of an O(N)-symmetric N-vector model directly in three dimensions. At next-to-leading order the approach cures the spurious small-N divergence of the standard (1PI) 1/N expansion for a computation of the critical anomalous dimension eta(N), and leads to improved estimates already for moderate values of N.

The critical scaling of the large-$N$ $O(N)$ model in higher dimensions using the exact renormalization group equations has been studied, motivated by the recently found non-trivial fixed point in $4<d<6$ dimensions with metastable critical potential. Particular attention is paid to the case of $d=5$ where the scaling exponent $\nu$ has the value $1/3$, which coincides with the scaling exponent of quantum gravity in one fewer dimensions. Convincing results show that this rela...

We consider a 4d scalar field coupled to large $N$ free or critical $O(N)$ vector models, either bosonic or fermionic, on a 3d boundary. We compute the $\beta$ function of the classically marginal bulk/boundary interaction at the first non-trivial order in the large $N$ expansion and exactly in the coupling. Starting with the free (critical) vector model at weak coupling, we find a fixed point at infinite coupling in which the boundary theory is the critical (free) vector mod...

We continue the study, initiated in arXiv:1404.1094, of the $O(N)$ symmetric theory of $N+1$ massless scalar fields in $6-\epsilon$ dimensions. This theory has cubic interaction terms $\frac{1}{2}g_1 \sigma (\phi^i)^2 + \frac{1}{6}g_2 \sigma^3$. We calculate the 3-loop beta functions for the two couplings and use them to determine certain operator scaling dimensions at the IR stable fixed point up to order $\epsilon^3$. We also use the beta functions to determine the correcti...

We consider the critical behavior of the most general system of two N-vector order parameters that is O(N) invariant. We show that it may a have a multicritical transition with enlarged symmetry controlled by the chiral O(2)xO(N) fixed point. For N=2, 3, 4, if the system is also invariant under the exchange of the two order parameters and under independent parity transformations, one may observe a critical transition controlled by a fixed point belonging to the mn model. Also...

We apply the methods of modern analytic bootstrap to the critical $O(N)$ model in a $1/N$ expansion. At infinite $N$ the model possesses higher spin symmetry which is weakly broken as we turn on $1/N$. By studying consistency conditions for the correlator of four fundamental fields we derive the CFT-data for all the (broken) currents to order $1/N$, and the CFT-data for the non-singlet currents to order $1/N^2$. To order $1/N$ our results are in perfect agreement with those i...

It is shown that the infinite dimensional critical surface of general euclidean lattice actions in a generic four-dimensional scalar field theory with $\Phi^4$ interactions has a domain of special multicritical points where higher dimensional operators play a special role. Renormalized trajectories of higher derivative continuum field theories with nontrivial interactions are traced back to special ultraviolet stable fixed points on the manifold of multicritical points. These...

The finite-size critical properties of the ${\cal O}(n)$ vector $\phi^4$ model, with long-range interaction decaying algebraically with the interparticle distance $r$ like $r^{-d-\sigma}$, are investigated. The system is confined to a finite geometry subject to periodic boundary condition. Special attention is paid to the finite-size correction to the bulk susceptibility above the critical temperature $T_c$. We show that this correction has a power-law nature in the case of p...

Using a simple identity between various partial derivatives of the energy of the vector model in 0+0 dimensions, we derive explicit results for the coefficients of the large N expansion of the model. These coefficients are functions in a variable $\rho^2$, which is the expectation value of the two point function in the limit $N=\infty$. These functions are analytic and have only one (multiple) pole in $\rho^2$. We show to all orders that these expressions obey a given general...
