We present an infinite family of Borwein type $+ - - $ conjectures. The expressions in the conjecture are related to multiple basic hypergeometric series with Macdonald polynomial argument.

It is shown that (two-variable generalizations of) more than half of Slater's list of 130 Rogers-Ramanujan identities (L. J. Slater, Further identities of the Rogers-Ramanujan type, \emph{Proc. London Math Soc. (2)} \textbf{54} (1952), 147--167) can be easily derived using just three multiparameter Bailey pairs and their associated $q$-difference equations. As a bonus, new Rogers-Ramanujan type identities are found along with natural combinatorial interpretations for many of ...

Recently, Li obtained an asymptotic formula for a certain partial sum involving coefficients for the polynomial in the First Borwein conjecture. As a consequence, he showed the positivity of this sum. His result was based on a sieving principle discovered by himself and Wan. In fact, Li points out in his paper that his method can be generalized to prove an asymptotic formula for a general partial sum involving coefficients for any prime $p>3$. In this work, we extend Li's met...

We generalize the "motivated proof" of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities given by Andrews and Baxter to provide an analogous "motivated proof" of Gordon's generalization of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. Our main purpose is to provide insight into certain vertex-algebraic structure being developed.

In this paper we show that various continued fractions for the quotient of general Ramanujan functions $G(aq,b,\l q)/G(a,b,\l)$ may be derived from each other via Bauer-Muir transformations. The separate convergence of numerators and denominators play a key part in showing that the continued fractions and their Bauer-Muir transformations converge to the same limit. We also show that these continued fractions may be derived from Heine's continued fraction for a ratio of $_2\...

We give a generalization of a Ramanujan's exercise for high school students. Our results can be regarded as a variation of the factorization formula of $x^{n} - 1$.

BBP-type formulas are usually discovered experimentally, through computer searches. In this paper, however, starting with two simple generators, and hence without doing any computer searches, we derive a wide range of BBP-type formulas in general bases. Many previously discovered BBP-type formulas turn out to be particular cases of the formulas derived here.

I revisit Bressoud's generalised Borwein conjecture. Making use of certain positivity-preserving transformations for q-binomial coefficients, I establish the truth of infinitely many new cases of the Bressoud conjecture. In addition, I prove new doubly-bounded refinement of the Foda-Quano identities. Finally, I discuss new companions to the Bressoud even moduli identities. In particular, all 10 mod 20 identities are derived.

In 1987 Jonathan and Peter Borwein, inspired by the works of Ramanujan, derived many efficient algorithms for computing $\pi$. We will see that by using only a formula of Gauss's and elementary algebra we are able to prove the correctness of two of them.

In this paper we show how to apply various techniques and theorems (including Pincherle's theorem, an extension of Euler's formula equating infinite series and continued fractions, an extension of the corresponding transformation that equates infinite products and continued fractions, extensions and contractions of continued fractions and the Bauer-Muir transformation) to derive infinite families of in-equivalent polynomial continued fractions in which each continued fraction...
