Let $H$ be a connected Hopf algebra acting on an algebra $A$. Working over a base field having characteristic $0$, we show that for a given prime (semi-prime, completely prime) ideal $I$ of $A$, the largest $H$-stable ideal of A contained in $I$ is also prime (semi-prime, completely prime). We also prove a similar result for certain subrings of convolution algebras.

It is an open question whether the smash product of a semisimple Hopf algebra and a semiprime module algebra is semiprime. In this paper we show that the smash product of a commutative semiprime module algebra over a semisimple cosemisimple Hopf algebra is semiprime. In particular we show that the central $H$-invariant elements of the Martindale ring of quotients of a module algebra form a von Neumann regular and self-injective ring whenever $A$ is semiprime. For a semiprime ...

The objects of study in this paper are Hopf algebras $H$ which are finitely generated algebras over an algebraically closed field and are extensions of a commutative Hopf algebra by a finite dimensional Hopf algebra. Basic structural and homological properties are recalled and classes of examples are listed. Bounds are obtained on the dimensions of simple $H$-modules, and the structure of $H$ is shown to be severely constrained when the finite dimensional extension is semisim...

Let $\Bbbk$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$. We study the general structures of $p^n$-dimensional Hopf algebras over $\Bbbk$ with $p^{n-1}$ group-like elements or a primitive element generating a $p^{n-1}$-dimensional Hopf subalgebra. As applications, we have proved that Hopf algebras of dimension $p^2$ over $\Bbbk$ are pointed or basic for $p \le 5$, and provided a list of characterizations of the Radford algebra $R(p)$. In particular, $R(p)$ is the ...

We give a general construction of rings graded by the conjugacy classes of a finite group. Some examples of our construction are the Hochschild cohomology ring of a finite group algebra, the Grothendieck ring of the Drinfel'd double of a group, and the orbifold cohomology ring for a global quotient. We generalize the first two examples by deriving product formulas for the Hochschild cohomology ring of a group crossed product and for the Grothendieck ring of an abelian extensi...

We introduce the cylindrical module $A \natural \mathcal{H}$, where $\mathcal{H}$ is a Hopf algebra and $A$ is a Hopf module algebra over $\mathcal{H}$. We show that there exists an isomorphism between $\mathsf{C}_{\bullet}(A^{op} \rtimes \mathcal{H}^{cop})$ the cyclic module of the crossed product algebra $A^{op} \rtimes \mathcal{H}^{cop} $, and $\Delta(A \natural \mathcal{H}) $, the cyclic module related to the diagonal of $A \natural \mathcal{H}$. If $S$, the antipode of $...

The notion of crossed product by a coquasi-bialgebra H is introduced and studied. The resulting crossed product is an algebra in the monoidal category of right H-comodules. We give an interpretation of the crossed product as an action of a monoidal category. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for two crossed products to be equivalent are provided. Then, two structure theorems for coquasi Hopf modules are given. First, these are relative Hopf modules over the c...

Recently, important progress has been made in the study of finite-dimensional semisimple Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic zero. Yet, very little is known over a field of positive characteristic. In this paper we prove some results on finite-dimensional semisimple and cosemisimple Hopf algebras A over a field of positive characteristic, notably Kaplansky's 5th conjecture on the order of the antipode of A. These results have already been proved over a field of chara...

This is a survey on the state-of-the-art of the classification of finite-dimensional complex Hopf algebras. This general question is addressed through the consideration of different classes of such Hopf algebras. Pointed Hopf algebras constitute the class best understood; the classification of those with abelian group is expected to be completed soon and there is substantial progress in the non-abelian case.

Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$. In this paper, we obtain the structure theorems for semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension $p^2q^2$ over $k$, where $p,q$ are prime numbers with $p^2<q$. As an application, we also obtain the structure theorems for semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension $9p^2$ and $25q^2$ for all primes $3\neq p$ and $5\neq q$.
