In this paper, we calculate the $ \phi (\hat{\phi})-$Selmer groups $ S^{(\phi)} (E / \Q) $ and $ S^{(\hat{\varphi})} (E^{\prime} / \Q) $ of elliptic curves $ y^{2} = x (x + \epsilon p D) (x + \epsilon q D) $ via descent theory (see [S, Chapter X]), in particular, we obtain that the Selmer groups of several families of such elliptic curves can be arbitrary large.

We give a generalization of a theorem of Silverman and Stephens regarding the signs in an elliptic divisibility sequence to the case of an elliptic net. We also describe applications of this theorem in the study of the distribution of the signs in elliptic nets and generating elliptic nets using the denominators of the linear combination of points on elliptic curves.

Assuming Lang's conjectured lower bound on the heights of non-torsion points on an elliptic curve, we show that there exists an absolute constant C such that for any elliptic curve E/Q and non-torsion point P in E(Q), there is at most one integral multiple [n]P such that n > C. The proof is a modification of a proof of Ingram giving an unconditional but not uniform bound. The new ingredient is a collection of explicit formulae for the sequence of valuations of the division po...

In literature, there are two different definitions of elliptic divisibility sequences. The first one says that a sequence of integers $\{h_n\}_{n\geq 0}$ is an elliptic divisibility sequence if it verifies the recurrence relation $h_{m+n}h_{m-n}h_{r}^2=h_{m+r}h_{m-r}h_{n}^2-h_{n+r}h_{n-r}h_{m}^2$ for every natural number $m\geq n\geq r$. The second definition says that a sequence of integers $\{\beta_n\}_{n\geq 0}$ is an elliptic divisibility sequence if it is the sequence of...

A theorem of Serre states that almost all plane conics over $\mathbb{Q}$ have no rational point. We prove an analogue of this for families of conics parametrised by elliptic curves using elliptic divisibility sequences and a version of the Selberg sieve for elliptic curves. We also give more general results for specialisations of Brauer groups, which yields applications to norm form equations.

This work has two main purposes. On the one side we investigate in this work a question of H. Esnault on congruence formula in a construction of H. Esnault and C. Xu for the number of rational points on the closed fiber of a singular model of the projective plane over a local field. From the viewpoint of asymptotic analysis, the question is quite familiar with a question of N. Koblitz, which in turn has some meaningful applications in cryptography. We don't try to solve those...

In this paper we prove that if $n > 30,030$ then the $n$-th element of any Lucas or Lehmer sequence has a primitive divisor.

In this paper I demonstrate that any pair (m, n) of non-zero and distinct rational numbers may have, at most, four representations as the product of two rational factors such that the sum of factors of m coincides with the sum of factors of n. In the second part of the paper I derive the properties of elliptic curves such that the cubic has rational roots that satisfy this property

Let C be an affine, plane, algebraic curve of degree d with integer coefficients. In 1989, Bombieri and Pila showed that if one takes a box with sides of length N then C can obtain no more than O_{d,\epsilon}(N^{1/d+\epsilon}) integer points within the box. Importantly, the implied constant makes no reference to the coefficients of the curve. Examples of certain rational curves show that this bound is tight but it has long been thought that when restricted to non-rational cur...

For a given point P in the group of K-rational points E(K) of an elliptic curve, we consider the sequence of values (F_1(P),F_2(P),F_3(P),...) of the division polynomials of E at P. If K is a finite field, we prove that the sequence is periodic. If K/Q_p is a local field, we prove (under certain hypotheses) that there is a power q=p^e so that for all m > 0, the limit as k goes to infinity of F_{mq^{k}}(P) exists in K and is algebraic over Q(E). We apply this result to prove a...
