As the loop space of a Riemannian manifold is infinite-dimensional, it is a non-trivial problem to make sense of the "top degree component" of a differential form on it. In this paper, we show that a formula from finite dimensions generalizes to assign a sensible "top degree component" to certain composite forms, obtained by wedging with the exponential (in the exterior algebra) of the canonical 2-form on the loop space. The result is a section on the Pfaffian line bundle on ...

We introduce a class of diffeological spaces, called elastic, on which the left Kan extension of the tangent functor of smooth manifolds defines an abstract tangent functor in the sense of Rosicky. On elastic spaces there is a natural Cartan calculus, consisting of vector fields and differential forms, together with the Lie bracket, de Rham differential, inner derivative, and Lie derivative, satisfying the usual graded commutation relations. Elastic spaces are closed under ar...

We will describe some mathematical ideas of K. T. Chen on calculus on loop spaces. They seem useful to understand non-abelian Yang--Mills theories.

This is the first part of the lecture notes that grew out of the special course given during the 2021-2022 academic year. In these lecture notes we present an approach to the fundamental structures of differential geometry that uses the vernacular of sheaves, differential operators and horizontal subbundles.

In this paper we generalise the theory of real vector bundles to a certain class of non-Hausdorff manifolds. In particular, it is shown that every vector bundle fibred over these non-Hausdorff manifolds can be constructed as a colimit of standard vector bundles. We then use this description to introduce various formulas that express non-Hausdorff structures in terms of data defined on certain Hausdorff submanifolds. Finally, we use \v{C}ech cohomology to classify the real non...

Every principal G-bundle is classified up to equivalence by a homotopy class of maps into the classifying space of G. On the other hand, for every nice topological space Milnor constructed a strict model of loop space, that is a group. Moreover the morphisms of topological groups defined on the loop space of X generate all the bundles over X up to equivalence. In this paper, we show that the relationship between Milnor's loop space and the classifying space functor is, in a p...

The present document is the draft of a book which presents an introduction to infinite-dimensional differential geometry beyond Banach manifolds. As is well known the usual calculus breaks down in this setting. Hence, we replace it by the more general Bastiani calculus which is built using directional derivatives. We then focus on two main areas of infinite-dimensional geometry: 1. infinite-dimensional Lie groups, and 2. weak Riemannian geometry. Both topics are develop...

Index of notation added. Shortening of some section, simplification of some of the arguments, some small added results and strengthening of thm 3.10. Also a significant re-writing of the last section.

In this paper we introduce an equivariant extension of the Chern-Simons form, associated to a path of connections on a bundle over a manifold M, to the free loop space LM, and show it determines an equivalence relation on the set of connections on a bundle. We use this to define a ring, loop differential K-theory of M, in much the same way that differential K-theory can be defined using the Chern-Simons form [SS]. We show loop differential K-theory yields a refinement of diff...

The theory of p-local compact groups, developed in an earlier paper by the same authors, is designed to give a unified framework in which to study the p-local homotopy theory of classifying spaces of compact Lie groups and p-compact groups, as well as some other families of a similar nature. It also includes, and in many aspects generalizes, the earlier theory of p-local finite groups. In this paper we show that the theory extends to include classifying spaces of finite loop ...
