We give a bare-hands approach to the martingale representation theorem for integer valued random measures, which allows for a wide class of infinite activity jump processes, as well as all processes with well-ordered jumps.

For two Polish state spaces $E_X$ and $E_Y$, and an operator $G_X$, we obtain existence and uniqueness of a $G_X$-martingale problem provided there is a bounded continuous duality function $H$ on $E_X \times E_Y$ together with a dual process $Y$ on $E_Y$ which is the unique solution of a $G_Y$-martingale problem. For the corresponding solutions $(X_t)_{t\ge 0}$ and $(Y_t)_{t\ge 0}$, duality with respect to a function $H$ in its simplest form means that the relation $\mathbb E...

In this paper we discuss weak convergence of continuous-time Markov chains to a non-symmetric pure jump process. We approach this problem using Dirichlet forms as well as semimartingales. As an application, we discuss how to approximate a given Markov process by Markov chains.

We introduce the local martingale problem associated to semilinear stochastic evolution equations driven by a cylindrical Wiener process and establish a one-to-one correspondence between solutions of the martingale problem and (analytically) weak solutions of the stochastic equation. We also prove that the solutions of well-posed equations are strong Markov processes. We apply our results to semilinear stochastic equations with additive noise where the semilinear term is mere...

We discuss a concept of path-dependent SDE with distributional drift with possible jumps. We interpret it via a suitable martingale problem, for which we provide existence and uniqueness. The corresponding solutions are expected to be Dirichlet processes, nevertheless we give examples of solutions which do not fulfill this property. In the second part of the paper we indeed state and prove significant new results on the class of Dirichlet processes.

This paper introduces Martingales by covering introductory measure theory concepts and the Lebesgue Integration and Conditional Expectation. It follows up with proofs of Kolomorgov's Theorem on conditional expectations, the Martingale Property, and the Pythagorean Theorem on Martingales. Finally, it ends with Martingales' applications in finance.

In this paper we study time-inhomogeneous affine processes beyond the common assumption of stochastic continuity. In this setting times of jumps can be both inaccessible and predictable. To this end we develop a general theory of finite dimensional affine semimartingales under very weak assumptions. We show that the corresponding semimartingale characteristics have affine form and that the conditional characteristic function can be represented with solutions to measure differ...

We describe an abstract control-theoretic framework in which the validity of the dynamic programming principle can be established in continuous time by a verification of a small number of structural properties. As an application we treat several cases of interest, most notably the lower-hedging and utility-maximization problems of financial mathematics both of which are naturally posed over ``sets of martingale measures''.

Measure-free discrete time stochastic processes in Riesz spaces were formulated and studied by Kuo, Labuschagne and Watson. Aspects relating martingales, stopping times, convergence of these processes as well as various decomposition were considered. Here we formulate and study Markov processes in a measure-free Riesz space setting.

In the development of stochastic integration and the theory of semimartingales, Markov processes have been a constant source of inspiration. Despite this historical interweaving, it turned out that semimartingales should be considered the `natural' class of processes for many concepts first developed in the Markovian framework. As an example, stochastic differential equations have been invented as a tool to study Markov processes but nowadays are treated separately in the lit...
