We give an elementary construction of symplectic connections through reduction. This provides an elegant description of a class of symmetric spaces and gives examples of symplectic connections with Ricci type curvature, which are not locally symmetric; the existence of such symplectic connections was unknown.

We develop a theory of reduction for generalized Kahler and hyper-Kahler structures which uses the generalized Riemannian metric in an essential way, and which is not described with reference solely to a single generalized complex structure. We show that our construction specializes to the usual theory of Kahler and hyper-Kahler reduction, and it gives a way to view usual hyper-Kahler quotients in terms of generalized Kahler reduction.

We present some fundamental facts about a class of generalized K\"ahler structures defined by invariant complex structures on compact Lie groups. The main computational tool is the BH-to-GK spectral sequences that relate the bi-Hermitian data to generalized geometry data. The relationship between generalized Hodge decomposition and generalized canonical bundles for generalized K\"ahler manifolds is also clarified.

We show that for all very special quaternionic manifolds a different N=1 reduction exists, defining a Kaehler Geometry which is ``dual'' to the original very special Kaehler geometry with metric G_{a\bar{b}}= - \partial_a \partial_b \ln V (V={1/6}d_{abc}\lambda^a \lambda^b \lambda^c). The dual metric g^{ab}=V^{-2} (G^{-1})^{ab} is Kaehler and it also defines a flat potential as the original metric. Such geometries and some of their extensions find applications in Type IIB com...

In this paper we give a realization of some symmetric space G/K as a closed submanifold P of G. We also give several equivalent representations of the submanifold P. Some properties of the set gK\cap P are also discussed, where gK is a coset space in G.

In this paper, using connections between Clifford-Wolf isometries and Killing vector fields of constant length on a given Riemannian manifold, we classify simply connected Clifford-Wolf homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. We also get the classification of complete simply connected Riemannian manifolds with the Killing property defined and studied previously by J.E. D'Atri and H.K. Nickerson. In the last part of the paper we study properties of Clifford-Killing spaces, that is, ...

We prove that a compact quaternionic-K\"{a}hler manifold of dimension $4n\geq 8$ admitting a conformal-Killing 2-form which is not Killing, is isomorphic to the quaternionic projective space, with its standard quaternionic-K\"{a}hler structure.

We classify indefinite simply connected hyper-Kaehler symmetric spaces. Any such space without flat factor has commutative holonomy group and signature (4m,4m). We establish a natural 1-1 correspondence between simply connected hyper-Kaehler symmetric spaces of dimension 8m and orbits of the general linear group GL(m,H) over the quaternions on the space (S^4C^n)^{\tau} of homogeneous quartic polynomials S in n = 2m complex variables satisfying the reality condition S = \tau S...

This is the pdf -version of the author's Ph.D. thesis (1995, ULB, Belgium). The notion of symeplectic symmertic space is introduced and studied via Lie theoretical and symplectic geoemetrical methods. The first chapter concerns basic poperties, however, an explicit formula for the Loos connection in the symplectic framework is given. In the second chapter, one proves a decomposition result analogous to de Rham - Wu's decomposition theorem for pseudo-Riemaniann symmertic space...
