We demonstrate that the analytic solution for the set of energy eigenvalues of the semi-relativistic Coulomb problem reported by B. and L. Durand is in clear conflict with an upper bound on the ground-state energy level derived by some straightforward variational procedure.

Electrons in strong magnetic fields can be described by one-dimensional models in which the Coulomb potential and interactions are replaced by regularizations associated with the lowest Landau band. For relativistic closed systems, an operator is explained which has as stationary eigenvalues the squares of the total cms energies, while the wave function has only half as many components as the corresponding Dirac wave function. The operator's time dependence is generalized to a Klein-Gordon equation. It ensures relativistic kinematics in radiative decays. The new operator is not hermitian.

A projection operator technique for solution of relativistic wave equation on non-compact group has been proposed. This technique was applied to the construction of wave equations for charged vector boson in a potential field. The equations were shown to approximately describe a hydrogen-like atom and allow estimating of relativistic corrections such as a fine structure of hydrogen atom lines with high accuracy.

In spite of the relevance of the proposal introduced in the recent work A. Abedi, N. T. Maitra and E. K. U. Gross, J. Chem. Phys. 137, 22A530, 2012, there is an important ingredient which is missing. Namely, the proof that the norms of the electronic and nuclear wavefunctions which are the solutions to the nonlinear equations of motion are preserved by the evolution. To prove the conservation of these norms is precisely the objective of this Comment.

We consider the stability of three Coulomb charges $\{+1, -1, -1 \}$ with finite masses in the framework of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. A simple physical condition on masses is derived to guarantee the absence of bound states below the dissociation thresholds.
