Time dependent quadratic Hamiltonians are well known as well in classical mechanics and in quantum mechanics. In particular for them the correspondance between classical and quantum mechanics is exact. But explicit formulas are non trivial (like the Mehler formula). Moreover, a good knowlege of quadratic Hamiltonians is very useful in the study of more general quantum Hamiltonians and associated Schr\"{o}dinger equations in the semiclassical regime. Our goal here is to give our own presentation of this important subject. We put emphasis on computations with Gaussian coherent states. Our main motivation to do that is application concerning revivals and Loschmidt echo.

Different families of generalized CS for one-dimensional systems with general time dependent quadratic Hamiltonian are constructed. In principle, all known CS of systems with quadratic Hamiltonian are members of these families. Some of the constructed generalized CS are close enough to the well-known due to Schr\"odinger and Glauber CS of a harmonic oscillator, we call them simply CS. However, even among these CS there exist different families of complete sets of CS. These fa...

In this paper we develop the topics of Quantum Recurrences and of Quantum Fidelity which have attracted great interest in recent years. The return probability is given by the square modulus of the overlap between a given initial wavepacket and the corresponding evolved one; quantum recurrences in time can be observed if this overlap is unity. We provide some conditions under which this is semiclassically achieved taking as initial wavepacket a coherent state located on a clos...

We generalize a recently proposed algebraic method in order to treat non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. The approach is applied to several quadratic Hamiltonians studied earlier by other authors. Instead of solving the Schr\"odinger equation we simply obtain the eigenvalues of a suitable matrix representation of the operator. We take into account the existence of unitary and antiunitary symmetries in the quantum-mechanical problem.

A recently developed algebraic approach for constructing coherent states for solvable potentials is used to obtain the displacement operator coherent state of the P\"{o}schl-Teller potential. We establish the connection between this and the annihilation operator coherent state and compare their properties. We study the details of the revival structure arising from different time scales underlying the quadratic energy spectrum of this system.

The sensitivity of the evolution of quantum uncertainties to the choice of the initial conditions is shown via a complex nonlinear Riccati equation leading to a reformulation of quantum dynamics. This sensitivity is demonstrated for systems with exact analytic solutions with the form of Gaussian wave packets. In particular, one-dimensional conservative systems with at most quadratic Hamiltonians are studied.

Our main goal in this paper is to extend to any system of coupled quadratic Hamiltonians some properties known for systems of quantum harmonic oscillators related with the Brownian Quantum Motion model. In a first part we get a rather general formula for the purity (or the linear entropy) in a short time approximation. In a second part we establish a master equation (or a Fokker-Planck type equation) for the time evolution of the reduced matrix density for bilinearly coupled ...

The time dependent quantum variational principle is emerging as an important means of studying quantum dynamics, particularly in early universe scenarios. To date all investigations have worked within a Gaussian framework. Here we present an improved method which is demonstrated to be superior to the Gaussian approach and may be naturally extended to the field--theoretic case.

The investigation of the generalized coherent states for oscillator-like systems connected with given family of orthogonal polynomials is continued. In this work we consider oscillators connected with Meixner and Meixner-Pollaczek polynomials and define generalized coherent states for these oscillators. The completeness condition for these states is proved by the solution of the related classical moment problem. The results are compared with the other authors ones. In particu...

A Lie algebraic method for propagation of the Wigner quasi-distribution function under quadratic Hamiltonian was presented by Zoubi and Ben-Aryeh. We show that the same method can be used in order to propagate a rather general class of quasi distribution functions, which we call "Gaussian class". This class contains as special cases the well-known Wigner, Husimi, Glauber and Kirkwood-Rihaczek quasi-distribution functions. We present some examples of the calculation of the tim...

Lie systems in Quantum Mechanics are studied from a geometric point of view. In particular, we develop methods to obtain time evolution operators of time-dependent Schrodinger equations of Lie type and we show how these methods explain certain ad hoc methods used in previous papers in order to obtain exact solutions. Finally, several instances of time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian are solved.
