Using the method of shape invariant potentials, a number of exact solutions of one dimensional effective mass Schrodinger equation are obtained. The solutions with equi-spaced spectrum are discussed in detail.

In this paper, by studying a class of 1-D Sturm-Liouville problems with periodic coefficients, we show and classify the solutions of periodic Schrodinger equations in a multidimensional case, which tells that not all the solutions are Bloch solutions. In addition, we also provide several properties of the solutions and quasimomenta and illustrate the relationship between bounded solutions and Bloch solutions.

We consider Schr\"odinger operators on periodic discrete graphs. It is known that the spectrum of these operators has band structure. We obtain a localization of spectral bands in terms of eigenvalues of Dirichlet and Neumann operators on a finite graph, which is constructed from the fundamental cell of the periodic graph. The proof is based on the Floquet decomposition of Schr\"odinger operators and the minimax principle.

We consider Schr\"odinger operators with periodic potentials on periodic discrete graphs. The spectrum of the Schr\"odinger operator consists of an absolutely continuous part (a union of a finite number of non-degenerated bands) plus a finite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We obtain estimates of the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum in terms of geometric parameters of the graph and show that they become identities for some class of graphs. Mo...

Sum of a second derivative operator with periodic boundary conditions and an integral operator of rank one (non-local potential) is studied in this manuscript. Not only spectral analysis is conducted for this operator but the inverse problem is solved, viz., a method of the reconstruction of non-local potential by the spectral data is presented. Class of spectral data that give the solution to the inverse problem is described.

By using quasi--derivatives, we develop a Fourier method for studying the spectral properties of one dimensional Schr\"odinger operators with periodic singular potentials.

In this article we consider the one-dimensional Schrodinger operator L(Q) with a Hermitian periodic m by m matrix potential Q. We investigate the bands and gaps of the spectrum and prove that the main part of the positive real axis is overlapped by m bands. Moreover, we find a condition on the potential Q for which the number of gaps in the spectrum of L(Q) is finite.

We discuss the band-gap structure and the integrated density of states for periodic elliptic operators in the Hilbert space $L_2(\R^m)$, for $m \ge 2$. We specifically consider situations where high contrast in the coefficients leads to weak coupling between the period cells. Weak coupling of periodic systems frequently produces spectral gaps or spectral concentration. Our examples include Schr\"odinger operators, elliptic operators in divergence form, Laplace-Beltrami-oper...

We construct a class of matrix-valued Schr\"odinger operators with prescribed finite-band spectra of maximum spectral multiplicity. The corresponding matrix potentials are shown to be stationary solutions of the KdV hierarchy. The methods employed in this paper rely on matrix-valued Herglotz functions, Weyl--Titchmarsh theory, pencils of matrices, and basic inverse spectral theory for matrix-valued Schr\"odinger operators.

We review recent advances in the spectral theory of Schr\"odinger operators with decaying potentials. The area has seen spectacular progress in the past few years, stimulated by several conjectures stated by Barry Simon starting at the 1994 International Congress on Mathematical Physics in Paris. The one-dimensional picture is now fairly complete, and provides many striking spectral examples. The multidimensional picture is still far from clear and may require deep original i...
