We consider a generalization of the Camassa Holm (CH) equation with two dependent variables, called CH2, introduced by Liu and Zhang. We briefly provide an alternative derivation of it based on the theory of Hamiltonian structures on (the dual of) a Lie Algebra. The Lie Algebra here involved is the same algebra underlying the NLS hierarchy. We study the structural properties of the CH2 hierarchy within the bihamiltonian theory of integrable PDEs, and provide its Lax representation. Then we explicitly discuss how to construct classes of solutions, both of peakon and of algebro-geometrical type. We finally sketch the construction of a class of singular solutions, defined by setting to zero one of the two dependent variables.

The Lax pair formulation of the two-component Camassa-Holm equation (CH2) is generalized to produce an integrable multi-component family, CH(n,k), of equations with $n$ components and $1\le |k|\le n$ velocities. All of the members of the CH(n,k) family show fluid-dynamics properties with coherent solitons following particle characteristics. We determine their Lie-Poisson Hamiltonian structures and give numerical examples of their soliton solution behaviour. We concentrate on ...

In this paper, we propose a multi-component system of Camassa-Holm equation, denoted by CH($N$,$H$) with 2N components and an arbitrary smooth function $H$. This system is shown to admit Lax pair and infinitely many conservation laws. We particularly study the case of N=2 and derive the bi-Hamiltonian structures and peaked soliton (peakon) solutions for some examples.

This paper examines a generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation from the perspective of integrability. Using the framework developed by Dubrovin on bi-Hamiltonian deformations and the general theory of quasi-integrability, we demonstrate that a unique bi-Hamiltonian structure is possible for this generalized equation only when it reduces to the original CH equation.

In this letter, we propose a (2+1)-dimensional generalized Camassa-Holm (2dgCH) hierarchy with both quadratic and cubic nonlinearity. The Lax representation and peakon solutions for the 2dgCH system are derived.

A classification of integrable two-component systems of non-evolutionary partial differential equations that are analogous to the Camassa-Holm equation is carried out via the perturbative symmetry approach. Independently, a classification of compatible pairs of Hamiltonian operators is carried out, which leads to bi-Hamiltonian structures for the same systems of equations. Some exact solutions and Lax pairs are also constructed for the systems considered.

This paper shows that the Camassa-Holm (CH) spectral problem yields two different integrable hierarchies of nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs), one is of negative order CH hierachy while the other one is of positive order CH hierarchy. The two CH hierarchies possess the zero curvature representations through solving a key matrix equation. We find that the well-known CH equation is included in the negative order CH hierarchy while a Dym type equation is included in the posi...

The modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation is a bi-Hamiltonian system possessing $N$-peakon weak solutions, for all $N\geq 1$, in the setting of an integral formulation which is used in analysis for studying local well-posedness, global existence, and wave breaking for non-peakon solutions. Unlike the original Camassa-Holm equation, the two Hamiltonians of the mCH equation do not reduce to conserved integrals (constants of motion) for $2$-peakon weak solutions. This perplexing ...

We provide a detailed treatment of the Camassa--Holm (CH) hierarchy with special emphasis on its algebro-geometric solutions. In analogy to other completely integrable hierarchies of soliton equations such as the KdV or AKNS hierarchies, the CH hierarchy is recursively constructed by means of basic polynomial formalism invoking a spectral parameter. Moreover, we study Dubrovin-type equations for auxiliary divisors and associated trace formulas, consider the corresponding alge...

We consider a one-parameter family of non-evolutionary partial differential equations which includes the integrable Camassa-Holm equation and a new equation first isolated by Degasperis and Procesi. A Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulation is presented for the whole family of equations, and we discuss how this fits into a bi-Hamiltonian framework in the integrable cases. The Hamiltonian dynamics of peakons and some other special finite-dimensional reductions are also describe...

We provide a construction of the two-component Camassa-Holm (CH-2) hierarchy employing a new zero-curvature formalism and identify and describe in detail the isospectral set associated to all real-valued, smooth, and bounded algebro-geometric solutions of the $n$th equation of the stationary CH-2 hierarchy as the real $n$-dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}^n$. We employ Dubrovin-type equations for auxiliary divisors and certain aspects of direct and inverse spectral theory for sel...
