The $\Lambda N - \Sigma N$ coupling in $\Lambda$--hypernuclei and $\Lambda \Lambda - \Xi N$ coupling in $\Lambda \Lambda$--hypernuclei produce novel physics not observed in the conventional, nonstrange sector. Effects of $\Lambda \leftrightarrow \Sigma$ conversion in $^3_{\Lambda}$H are reviewed. The role of $\Lambda N - \Sigma N$ coupling suppression in the $A=4,5$ $\Lambda$--hypernuclei due to Pauli blocking is highlighted, and the implications for the structure of $^{10}_{...

The interaction of $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ hyperons (Y) with nucleons (N) is strongly influenced by the coupled-channel dynamics. Due to the small mass difference of the $\rm N \Lambda$ and $\rm N \Sigma$ systems, the sizeable coupling strength of the $\rm N \Sigma\leftrightarrow N \Lambda$ processes constitutes a crucial element in the determination of the N$\Lambda$ interaction. In this letter we present the most precise measurements on the interaction of p$\Lambda$ pairs, f...

The structure of the three-body $nn\Lambda$ system, which has been observed recently by the HypHI collaboration, is investigated taking $\Lambda N-\Sigma N$ coupling explicitly into account. The $YN$ and $NN$ interactions employed in this work reproduce the binding energies of $^3_{\Lambda}$H, $^4_{\Lambda}$H and $^4_{\Lambda}$He. We do not find any $^3_{\Lambda}n$ bound state, which contradicts the interpretation of the data reported by the HypHI collaboration.

The hypertriton is predicted to have a small binding energy (a weighted average of about 150 keV), consistent with a large matter radius (~ 10 fm), larger than the historical 11Li halo discovered more than 35 years ago. But the reported experimental values of the binding energy of the hypertriton range from 70 to 400 keV. In this work I discuss the electromagnetic response and interaction radius of the hypertriton and how high energy heavy ion collisions (~ 1 - 2 GeV/nucleon)...

The real nature of nucleon-hyperon and hyperon-hyperon interaction is best understood by theoretical study of single lambda hypernuclei. Variational Monte-Carlo calculations have been done on some light lambda hypernuclei using realistic NN, NNN ; phenomenological {\Lambda}N and {\Lambda}NN interactions. The results obtained for different interactions show the role of {\Lambda}N and {\Lambda}NN interactions. These interactions have been found to be important for the stability...

The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of ${\rm ^{3}_{\Lambda}\rm H}$ in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval $-1 < y < 0$ for the 40% highest multiplicity p-Pb collisions is ${\rm d} N /{\rm d} y =[\mat...

Understanding the strong interactions within baryonic systems beyond the up and down quark sector is pivotal for a comprehensive description of nuclear forces. This study explores the interactions involving hyperons, particularly the $\Lambda$ particle, within the framework of nuclear lattice effective field theory (NLEFT). By incorporating $\Lambda$ hyperons into the NLEFT framework, we extend our investigation into the $S = -1$ sector, allowing us to probe the third dimensi...

The NKY coupling constant for $Y = \Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We discuss and extend the result of a previous analysis in the $\rlap{/}{q}i\gamma_5$ structure and compare it with the result obtained with the use of the $\gamma_5 \sigma_{\mu \nu}$ structure. We find a huge violation of the SU(3) symmetry in the $\gamma_5 \sigma_{\mu \nu}$ structure.

The nonmesonic decay of the hypertriton is calculated based on a hypertriton wavefunction and 3N scattering states, which are rigorous solutions of 3-body Faddeev equations using realistic NN and hyperon-nucleon interactions. The pion-exchange together with heavier meson exchanges for the $\Lambda N \to N N $ transition is considered. The total nonmesonic decay rate is found to be 0.5% of the free $\Lambda$ decay rate. Integrated as well as differential decay rates are given....

The hypertriton bound state is relevant for inference of knowledge about the hyperon-nucleon (YN) interaction. In this work we compute the binding energy of the hypertriton using the ab initio hypernuclear no-core shell model (NCSM) with realistic interactions derived from chiral effective field theory. In particular, we employ a large family of nucleon-nucleon interactions with the aim to quantify the theoretical precision of predicted hypernuclear observables arising from n...
