We reanalyse the gamma-gamma scattering data and conclude that in the mass region below 1 GeV the cross section for gamma-gamma to pi^0-pi^0 can be largely explained by the one pion exchange process with pi-pi rescattering. The radiative width of the sigma is estimated and a model dependent separation into contributions from direct gamma-gamma decay and decay through rescattering is obtained. We confront these findings with QCD spectral sum rule (QSSR) predictions and conclud...

The $\sigma$-exchange and $f_2$-exchange mechanisms for $\rho$ meson photoproduction are re-examined. Then the commonly employed $\sigma$-exchange amplitude is revised by using the recent information from the analyses on the $\rho \to \pi^0\pi^0\gamma$ decay and the $\sigma NN$ coupling constant from Bonn potential. Instead of relying on the Pomeron-$f$ proportionality assumption, the $f_2$ meson exchange amplitude is established from an effective Lagrangian which is construc...

The scalar contributions to the radiative decays of light vector mesons into a pair of neutral pseudoscalars, $V\to P^0P^0\gamma$, are studied within the framework of the Linear Sigma Model. This model has the advantage of incorporating not only the scalar resonances in an explicit way but also the constraints required by chiral symmetry. The experimental data on $\phi\to\pi^0\pi^0\gamma$, $\phi\to\pi^0\eta\gamma$, $\rho\to\pi^0\pi^0\gamma$ and $\omega\to\pi^0\pi^0\gamma$ are...

We investigate the possibility that the process of $\rho^{0}$-meson photoproduction on proton, $\gamma+p\to p+\rho^{0}$, in the near threshold region $E_{\gamma}< 2$ GeV, can be considered in the framework of model with $\pi$-, $\sigma$- and N-exchanges. This suggestion is based on a study of the t-dependence of differential cross section, $d\sigma(\gamma p \to p \rho^{0})/dt$, which has been measured by SAPHIR Collaboration. We find that the suggested model provides a good d...

The decay modes $\rho^0 \to 2\pi^+ 2\pi^-$ and $\rho^0 \to 2\pi^0 \pi^+ \pi^-$ are considered in the framework of the low energy effective chiral Lagrangian. The obtained values of the decay widths $\Gamma(\rho^0\to 2 \pi^+ 2 \pi^-)=$ $(16 \pm 1){\rm keV}$ and $\Gamma(\rho^0\to 2 \pi^0 \pi^+ \pi^-)= (6.0 \pm 0.2)$keV do not contradict the existing upper limits and seem to be big enough for the corresponding processes to be observed in future high luminosity experiments.

We evaluate the photon spectra from the reaction $\pi\rho\ra \pi\gamma$ for the exchange of $\pi$, $\rho$, $\omega$, $\phi$ and $a_1$ as intermediary mesons. It is found that the contributions from the intermediary $a_1$ is more than any other meson exchange processes up to photon energies 2.5 GeV.

We propose a simple meson-exchange model of the photoproduction of $\rho$- and $\omega$-mesons off protons near threshold ($E_\gamma$ less than 2 GeV). This model provides a good description of the available data and implies a large $\rho$-nucleon interaction in the scalar channel ($\sigma$-exchange). We use this phenomenological interaction to estimate the leading contribution to the self-energy of $\rho$-mesons in matter. The implications of our calculation for experimental...

The e+e- -> pi0 pi0 gamma process was studied in the SND experiment at VEPP-2M e+e- collider in the energy region 0.60-0.97 GeV. From the analysis of the energy dependence of measured cross section the branching ratios B(omega -> pi0 pi0 gamma)= (6.6 +1.4-0.8(stat) +-0.6(syst))x10^-5 and B(rho -> pi0 pi0 gamma)=(4.1 +1.0-0.9(stat) +-0.3(syst))x10^-5 were obtained.

The radiative decays $V\to S\gamma$ and $S\to V\gamma$ with $V=\rho, \omega, \phi$ and $S=a_0, \sigma, f_0$ are calculated within the framework of the Linear Sigma Model. Current experimental data on the $\phi\to f_0\gamma$ and $\rho\to\sigma\gamma$ branching ratios and the ratio $\Gamma(\phi\to f_0\gamma)/\Gamma(\phi\to a_0\gamma)$ are satisfactorily accommodated in our approach. We also estimate the decay widths of the $f_0,a_0\to\rho\gamma,\omega\gamma$ transitions. All th...

Studies of the reaction $\gamma\pi\to\pi\pi$, in the context of the ongoing Primakoff program of the COMPASS experiment at CERN, give access to the radiative couplings of the $\rho(770)$ and $\rho_3(1690)$ resonances. We provide a vector-meson-dominance estimate of the respective radiative width of the $\rho_3$, $\Gamma_{\rho_3\to\pi\gamma}=48(18)$ keV, as well as its impact on the $F$-wave in $\gamma\pi\to\pi\pi$. For the $\rho(770)$, we establish the formalism necessary to ...
