We investigate the property of the high-density nuclear matter probed by the nucleus-nucleus elastic scattering in the framework of the double-folding (DF) model with the complex $G$-matrix interaction. The medium effect including three-body-force (TBF) effect is investigated with present two methods based on the frozen density approximation (FDA). The medium effect is clearly seen on the potential and the elastic cross section for the $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O system at $E/A =$ 70...

The production of K^+ mesons in pA (A = D, C, Cu, Ag, Au) collisions has been investigated at the COoler SYnchrotron COSY-J\"ulich for beam energies T_p = 1.0 - 2.3 GeV. Double differential inclusive pC cross sections at forward angles theta < 12 degrees as well as the target-mass dependence of the K^+ momentum spectra have been measured with the ANKE spectrometer. Far below the free NN threshold at T_{NN}=1.58 GeV the spectra reveal a high degree of collectivity in the targe...

Experimental data on the production of kaons and antikaons in heavy ion collisions at relativistic energies are reviewed with respect to in-medium effects. The $K^-/K^+$ ratios measured in nucleus-nucleus collisions are 1 - 2 orders of magnitude larger than in proton-proton collisions. The azimuthal angle distributions of $K^+$ mesons indicate a repulsive kaon-nucleon potential. Microscopic transport calculations consistently explain both the yields and the emission patterns ...

The ratio $R_T$ of $K^+-^{12}C$ to $K^+-d$ cross sections has been calculated microscopically using a boson-exchange $KN$ amplitude in which the $\sigma$ and $\omega$ mesons are dressed by the modifications of the Dirac sea in nuclear matter. In spite of the fact that this dressing leads to a scaling of the mesons effective mass in nuclear matter, the effect on the $R_T$ ratio is found to be weak.

The production of $K^+$ mesons in proton-nucleus collisions from 1.0 to 2.3 GeV is analyzed with respect to one-step nucleon-nucleon $(NN\to N Y K^+$) and two-step $\Delta$-nucleon $(\Delta N \to K^+ Y N$) or pion-nucleon $(\pi N \to K^+ Y $) production channels on the basis of a coupled-channel transport approach (CBUU) including the kaon final-state-interactions (FSI). Momentum-dependent potentials for the nucleon, hyperon and kaon in the final state are included as well as...

We study the antikaon-induced inclusive cascade $\Xi^-$ hyperon production from $^{12}$C and $^{184}$W target nuclei near threshold within a nuclear spectral function approach. The approach describes incoherent direct $\Xi^-$ hyperon production in elementary ${K^-}p \to {K^+}\Xi^-$ and ${K^-}n \to {K^0}\Xi^-$ processes as well as takes into account the influence of the scalar nuclear $K^-$, $K^+$, $K^0$, $\Xi^-$ and their Coulomb potentials on these processes. We calculate th...

Microscopic optical model potential results for reaction cross sections of proton elastic scattering are presented. The applications cover the 10-1000 MeV energy range and consider both stable and unstable nuclei. The study is based on in-medium g-matrix full-folding optical model approach with the appropriate relativistic kinematic corrections needed for the higher energy applications. The effective interactions are based on realistic NN potentials supplemented with a separa...

We study theoretically medium effects on $\Xi^-$ production in the ($K^-$, $K^+$) reaction, using the optimal Fermi-averaging procedure which describes the Fermi motion of a nucleon on the on-energy-shell $K^-p\to K^+\Xi^-$ reaction condition in nuclei. The result shows the strong energy and angular dependence of the in-medium $K^-p\to K^+\Xi^-$ cross section, which affects significantly the shape and magnitude of the production spectrum for $\Xi^-$ hypernuclear states in the ...

We calculate $K^-$-nucleus elastic differential, reaction and total cross sections for different nuclei ($^{12}$C,$^{40}$Ca and $^{208}$Pb) at several laboratory antikaon momenta, ranging from 127 MeV to 800 MeV. We use different antikaon-nucleus optical potentials, some of them fitted to kaonic atom data, and study the sensitivity of the cross sections to the considered antikaon-nucleus dynamics.

The comparison of $K^+$ and $K^-$ spectra at low transverse momentum in light symmetric heavy ion reactions at energies around 2 AGeV allows for a direct experimental determination of the strength of the $K^+$ as well as of t he $K^-$ nucleus potential. Other little known or unknown input quantities like the production or rescattering cross sections of $K^+$ and $K^-$ mesons do not spoil this signal. This result, obtained by simulations of these reactio ns with the Isospin Qu...
