Applying recent ideas of Carlet, Dubrovin and Zhang (to appear), who, following a suggestion of Eguchi and Yang (hep-th/9407134), study the logarithm of the Lax operator of the Toda lattice, we show that the equivariant Toda lattice introduced in math.AG/0207025 is a Hamiltonian integrable system.

We define the 2-Toda lattice on every simple Lie algebra g, and we show its Liouville integrability. We show that this lattice is given by a pair of Hamiltonian vector fields, associated with a Poisson bracket which results from an R-matrix of the underlying Lie algebra. We construct a big family of constants of motion which we use to prove the Liouville integrability of the system. We achieve the proof of their integrability by using several results on simple Lie algebras, R...

The notion of Laplace invariants is transferred to the lattices and discrete equations which are difference analogs of hyperbolic PDE's with two independent variables. The sequence of Laplace invariants satisfy the discrete analog of twodimensional Toda lattice. The terminating of this sequence by zeroes is proved to be the necessary condition for existence of the integrals of the equation under consideration. The formulae are presented for the higher symmetries of the equati...

The discrete autonomous/non-autonomous Toda equations and the discrete Lotka-Volterra system are important integrable discrete systems in fields such as mathematical physics, mathematical biology and statistical physics. They also have applications to numerical linear algebra. In this paper, we first simultaneously obtain their general solutions. Then, we show the asymptotic behavior of the solutions for any initial values as the discrete-time variables go to infinity. Our tw...

In this paper, we construct the additional $W$-symmetry and ghost symmetry of two-lattice field integrable hierarchies. Using the symmetry constraint, we construct constrained two-lattice integrable systems which contain several new integrable difference equations. Under a further reduction, the constrained two-lattice integrable systems can be combined into one single integrable system, namely the well-known one dimensional original Toda hierarchy. We prove that the one dime...

We present an algorithm for determining the Lie point symmetries of differential equations on fixed non transforming lattices, i.e. equations involving both continuous and discrete independent variables. The symmetries of a specific integrable discretization of the Krichever-Novikov equation, the Toda lattice and Toda field theory are presented as examples of the general method.

We extend the construction of the relativistic Toda chains as integrable systems on the Poisson submanifolds in Lie groups beyond the case of A-series. For the simply-laced case this is just a direct generalization of the well-known relativistic Toda chains, and we construct explicitly the set of the Ad-invariant integrals of motion on symplectic leaves, which can be described by the Poisson quivers being just the blown up Dynkin diagrams. We also demonstrate how to get the s...

We present a class of solutions of the two-dimensional Toda lattice equation, its fully discrete analogue and its ultra-discrete limit. These solutions demonstrate the existence of soliton resonance and web-like structure in discrete integrable systems such as differential-difference equations, difference equations and cellular automata (ultra-discrete equations).

A new integrable lattice system is introduced, and its integrable discretizations are obtained. A B\"acklund transformation between this new system and the Toda lattice, as well as between their discretizations, is established.

This paper is devoted to constructing and studying exactly solvable dynamical systems in discrete time obtained from some algebraic operations on matrices, to reductions of such systems leading to classical field theory models in 2+1-dimensional wholly discrete space-time, and to connection between those field theories and inhomogoneous models in 2-dimensional statistical physics.
