We devise a technique for defining and computing n-point functions in the context of a background-independent gravitational quantum field theory. We construct a tentative implementation of this technique in a perturbatively-finite loop/spinfoam model.

It is possible to formulate theories with many Lee-Wick particles such that a limit exists where the low-energy theory approaches the form of a ghost-free nonlocal theory. Such asymptotically nonlocal quantum field theories have a derived regulator scale that is hierarchically smaller than the lightest Lee-Wick resonance; this has been studied previously in the case of asymptotically nonlocal scalar theories, Abelian and non-Abelian gauge theories, and linearized gravity. Her...

We review two novel techniques used to calculate tree-level scattering amplitudes efficiently: MHV diagrams, and on-shell recursion relations. For the MHV diagrams, we consider applications to tree-level amplitudes and focus in particular on the N=4 supersymmetric formulation. We also briefly describe the derivation of loop amplitudes using MHV diagrams. For the recursion relations, after presenting their general proof, we discuss several applications to massless theories wit...

We argue that the tree-level graviton-scalar scattering in the Regge limit is unitarized by non-perturbative effects within General Relativity. At Planckian energy the back reaction of the incoming graviton on the background geometry produces a non-perturbative plane wave which, in turn, softens the UV-behavior. Our amplitude then interpolates between the perturbative graviton-scalar scattering at low energy and scattering on a classical plane wave in the Regge limit.

We provide a new efficient diagrammatic tool, in the context of the scattering equations, for computation of covariant $D$-dimensional tree-level $n$-point amplitudes with pairs of spinning massive particles using compact exponential numerators. We discuss how this framework allows non-integer spin extensions of recurrence relations for amplitudes developed for integer spin. Our results facilitate the on-going program for generating observables in classical general relativity...

The validity of the tree-unitarity criterion for scattering amplitudes on the noncommutative space-time is considered, as a condition that can be used to shed light on the problem of unitarity violation in noncommutative quantum field theories when time is noncommutative. The unitarity constraints on the partial wave amplitudes in the noncommutative space-time are also derived.

We discuss an alternative approach to studying the low energy limit of quantum general relativity. We investigate the low energy limit of a scattering cross-section for two massive scalar particles. Unlike calculations involving the reconstruction of the gravitational potential, our approach avoids ambiguities and is applicable in any frame. Our results are in agreement with both relativistic and non-relativistic calculations. The non-analytic parts of scattering amplitudes t...

In this paper, we study the corrections to tree level scattering that arise due to noncommutative deformations of cubic scalar field theory through implementation of the Groenewald-Moyal(GM) product. The additional noncommutative refinement as we shall see, supplies nontrivial corrections to scattering even at the tree level. The amplitudes for 2 -> 2 scattering are computed and elucidated. Finally, we also consider the possibility of a localized noncommutativity parameter an...

In this paper we will consider quantum aspects of a non-local, infinite-derivative scalar field theory - a $\it toy \, model$ depiction of a covariant infinite-derivative, non-local extension of Einstein's general relativity which has previously been shown to be free from ghosts around the Minkowski background. The graviton propagator in this theory gets an exponential suppression making it $\it asymptotically \, free$, thus providing strong prospects of resolving various cla...

The experimental results that test Bell's inequality have found strong evidence suggesting that there are nonlocal aspects in nature. Evidently, these nonlocal effects, which concern spacelike separated regions, create an enormous tension between general relativity and quantum mechanics. In addition, by avoiding the coincidence limit, semiclassical gravity can also accommodate nonlocal aspects. Motivated by these results, we study if it is possible to construct geometrical th...
