The problem of counting points is revisited from the perspective of reflexive 4-dimensional polytopes. As an application, the Hilbert series of the 473,800,776 reflexive polytopes (equivalently, their Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces) are computed.

We present a universal normal algebra suitable for constructing and classifying Calabi-Yau spaces in arbitrary dimensions. This algebraic approach includes natural extensions of reflexive weight vectors to higher dimensions, related to Batyrev's reflexive polyhedra, and their n-ary combinations. It also includes a `dual' construction based on the Diophantine decomposition of invariant monomials, which provides explicit recurrence formulae for the numbers of Calabi-Yau spaces ...

The number of rational points in toric data are given for two-parameter Calabi-Yau $n$-folds as toric hypersurfaces over finite fields $\mathbb F_p$ . We find that the fundamental period is equal to the number of rational points of the Calabi-Yau $n$-folds in zeroth order $p$-adic expansion. By analyzing the solution set of the GKZ-system given by the enhanced polyhedron, we deduce that under type II/F-theory duality the 3D and 4D Calabi-Yau manifolds have the same number of ...

We extend the construction of Calabi-Yau manifolds to hypersurfaces in non-Fano toric varieties, requiring the use of certain Laurent defining polynomials, and explore the phases of the corresponding gauged linear sigma models. The associated non-reflexive and non-convex polytopes provide a generalization of Batyrev's original work, allowing us to construct novel pairs of mirror models. We showcase our proposal for this generalization by examining Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in ...

We show that the moduli space of all Calabi-Yau manifolds that can be realized as hypersurfaces described by a transverse polynomial in a four dimensional weighted projective space, is connected. This is achieved by exploiting techniques of toric geometry and the construction of Batyrev that relate Calabi-Yau manifolds to reflexive polyhedra. Taken together with the previously known fact that the moduli space of all CICY's is connected, and is moreover connected to the moduli...

We explore the distribution of topological numbers in Calabi-Yau manifolds, using the Kreuzer-Skarke dataset of hypersurfaces in toric varieties as a testing ground. While the Hodge numbers are well-known to exhibit mirror symmetry, patterns in frequencies of combination thereof exhibit striking new patterns. We find pseudo-Voigt and Planckian distributions with high confidence and exact fit for many substructures. The patterns indicate typicality within the landscape of Cala...

One may construct a large class of Calabi-Yau varieties by taking anticanonical hypersurfaces in toric varieties obtained from reflexive polytopes. If the intersection of a reflexive polytope with a hyperplane through the origin yields a lower-dimensional reflexive polytope, then the corresponding Calabi-Yau varieties are fibered by lower-dimensional Calabi-Yau varieties. A top generalizes the idea of splitting a reflexive polytope into two pieces. In contrast to the classifi...

Using an inclusion of one reflexive polytope into another is a well-known strategy for connecting the moduli spaces of two Calabi-Yau families. In this paper we look at the question of when an inclusion of reflexive polytopes determines a torically-defined extremal transition between smooth Calabi-Yau hypersurface families. We show this is always possible for reflexive polytopes in dimensions two and three. However, in dimension four and higher, obstructions can occur. This l...

We use Batyrev-Borisov's formula for the generating function of stringy Hodge numbers of Calabi-Yau varieties realized as complete intersections in toric varieties in order to get closed form expressions for Hodge numbers of Calabi-Yau threefolds in five-dimensional ambient spaces. These expressions involve counts of lattice points on faces of associated Cayley polytopes. Using the same techniques, similar expressions may be obtained for higher dimensional varieties realized ...

We provide the first estimate of the number of fine, regular, star triangulations of the four-dimensional reflexive polytopes, as classified by Kreuzer and Skarke (KS). This provides an upper bound on the number of Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces in toric varieties. The estimate is performed with deep learning, specifically the novel equation learner (EQL) architecture. We demonstrate that EQL networks accurately predict numbers of triangulations far beyond the $h^{1,1}$ t...
