With the help of the replica exchange Monte Carlo method and the improved Monte Carlo renormalization-group scheme, we investigate over a wide area in the phase diagram of the Gaussian random field Ising model on the simple cubic lattice. We found that the phase transition at a weak random field belongs to the same universality class as the zero-temperature phase transition. We also present a possible scenario for the replica symmetry breaking transition.

We study the thermodynamic properties and the phase diagrams of a multi-spin antiferromagnetic spherical spin-glass model using the replica method. It is a two-sublattice version of the ferromagnetic spherical p-spin glass model. We consider both the replica-symmetric and the one-step replica-symmetry-breaking solutions, the latter being the most general solution for this model. We find paramagnetic, spin-glass, antiferromagnetic and mixed or glassy antiferromagnetic phases. ...

We include p-spin interactions in a spherical version of a soluble mean-field spin-glass model proposed by van Hemmen. Due to the simplicity of the solutions, which do not require the use of the replica trick, we are able to carry out a detailed investigation of a number of special situations. For p larger or equal to 3, there appear first-order transitions between the paramagnetic and the ordered phases. In the presence of additional ferromagnetic interactions, we show that ...

The fully-connected Ising $p$-spin model has for $p >2$ a discontinuous phase transition from the paramagnetic phase to a stable state with one-step replica symmetry breaking (1RSB). However, simulations in three dimension do not look like these mean-field results and have features more like those which would arise with full replica symmetry breaking (FRSB). To help understand how this might come about we have studied in the fully connected $p$-spin model the state of two-ste...

The spin-1 Ising model with bilinear and quadrupolar short-range interactions under magnetic field is investigated within the two-particle cluster approximation. It is shown that for those values of the quadrupolar interaction when at zero magnetic field the system undergoes a temperature phase transition between quadrupolar and paramagnetic phases, a triple point may exist in the temperature vs magnetic field phase diagrams, necessarily along with a critical point. It is als...

We investigate the p-spin model with Gaussian-distributed random interactions in the microcanonical ensemble using the replica theory. For p=2, there are only second-order phase transitions and we recover the results of Sherrington and Kirkpatrick obtained in the canonical ensemble. For p > 2, the transition between the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases is of first order, and the microcanonical and canonical ensembles give different results. We also discuss the ensemble i...

We consider the critical properties of points of continuous glass transition as one can find in liquids in presence of constraints or in liquids in porous media. Through a one loop analysis we show that the critical Replica Field Theory describing these points can be mapped in the $\phi^4$-Random Field Ising Model. We confirm our analysis studying the finite size scaling of the $p$-spin model defined on sparse random graph, where a fraction of variables is frozen such that th...

In this paper a spin-1 spin-glass model under the presence of a uniform crystal field is investigated. It is shown that the model presents both continuous and first-order phase transition separated by a tricritical point. The phase diagram is obtained within the replica-symmetric solution and exhibits reentrance phenomena at low temperatures. Possibly it is the simplest model which can describe inverse freezing phenomena.

We analyse the competition between spin glass (SG) order and local pairing superconductivity (SC) in the fermionic Ising spin glass with frustrated fermionic spin interaction and nonrandom attractive interaction. The phase diagram is presented for all temperatures T and chemical potentials \mu. SC-SG transitions are derived for the relevant ratios between attractive and frustrated-magnetic interaction. Characteristic features of pairbreaking caused by random magnetic interact...

We reconsider Ising spins in a Gaussian random field within the replica formalism. The corresponding continuum model involves several coupling constants beyond the single one which was considered in the standard $\phi^4$ theory approach. These terms involve more than one replica, and therefore in a mean field theory they do not contribute to the zero-replica limit. However the fluctuations involving those extra terms are singular on the Curie line below eight dimensions, and ...
