We report on comprehensive results identifying the ground state of a triangular-lattice structured YbZnGaO$_4$ to be spin glass, including no long-range magnetic order, prominent broad excitation continua, and absence of magnetic thermal conductivity. More crucially, from the ultralow-temperature a.c. susceptibility measurements, we unambiguously observe frequency-dependent peaks around 0.1 K, indicating the spin-glass ground state. We suggest this conclusion to hold also for...

The dynamics of the magnetic properties of polycrystalline RuSr2Gd1.5Ce0.5Cu2O10 (Ru-1222) have been studied by ac susceptibility and dc magnetization measurements, including relaxation and ageing studies. Ru-1222 is a reported magneto-superconductor with Ru spins magnetic ordering at temperatures near 100 K and superconductivity in Cu-O2 planes below Tc ~ 40 K. The exact nature of Ru spins magnetic ordering is still debated and no conclusion has been reached yet. In this wor...

Sc$_{2}$Ga$_{2}$CuO$_{7}$ (SGCO) crystallizes in a hexagonal structure (space group: $P$$6$$_{3}/mmc$),\textcolor{black}{{} which can be seen as an alternating stacking of single and double triangular layers. Combining neutron, x-ray, and resonant x-ray diffraction we establish that the single triangular layers are mainly populated by non-magnetic Ga$^{3+}$ ions (85\% Ga and 15\% Cu), while the bi-layers have comparable population of Cu$^{2+}$ and Ga$^{3+}$} ions \textcolor{b...

In this letter we show the presence of a spin-glass like phase in single crystals of magnetoelectric gallium ferrite (GaFeO3) below ~210 K via temperature dependent ac and dc magnetization studies. Analysis of frequency dispersion of the susceptibility peak at ~210 K using the critical slowing down model and Vogel-Fulcher law strongly suggests the existence of a classical spin-glass like phase. This classical spin glass behavior of GaFeO3 is understood in terms of an outcome ...

We report high-resolution x-ray diffraction, muon-spin-rotation spectroscopic and specific heat measurements in the double spin-chains compound $\rm LiCu_2O_2$. The x-ray diffraction results show that the crystal structure of $\rm LiCu_2O_2$ ~is orthorhombic down to T=10K. Anisotropic line-broadening of the diffraction peaks is observed, indicating disorder along the spin chains. Muon spin relaxation and specific heat measurements show that $\rm LiCu_2O_2$ \~undergoes a phase...

The manganocuprate compound Gd3Ba2Mn2Cu2O12 (Gd-3222) has been synthesized by conventional solid state reaction method and its magnetic behavior has been studied by dc and ac magnetization (M) and heat capacity (C) measurements as a function of temperature (T). This compound crystallizes in a tetragonal structure (space group I4/mmm). We find that this compound exhibits three magnetic transitions, around 2.5, 4.8 and 9 K, as inferred from dc and ac magnetic susceptibility (ch...

This manuscript presents a model and simulation of the copper chalcopyrite semiconductor CuGaSe2 in order to predict its magnetic properties. In the semiconductor material CuGaSe2 (CGS), the atom Cu is the only magnetic element with a magnetic moment value S = 1/2. We propose a Hamiltonian to calculate the energies corresponding to different configurations of the system. In a first step, we presented the magnetization behavior by using the Monte Carlo simulations (MCS). The m...

Spin dynamics in the van der Waals antiferromagnet FeGa$_2$S$_4$ with triangular lattices are investigated using magnetometry, neutron scattering, and muon spin relaxation measurements. The characteristic spin relaxation time is thoroughly clarified over thirteen orders of magnitude. Although the temperature dependence of DC and AC susceptibilities recalls a conventional spin-glass transition, nonlinear susceptibilities showing no divergences at the anomalous temperature, $T^...

The synergy between experiment, theory, and simulations enables a microscopic analysis of spin-glass dynamics in a magnetic field in the vicinity of and below the spin-glass transition temperature $T_\mathrm{g}$. The spin-glass correlation length, $\xi(t,t_\mathrm{w};T)$, is analysed both in experiments and in simulations in terms of the waiting time $t_\mathrm{w}$ after the spin glass has been cooled down to a stabilised measuring temperature $T<T_\mathrm{g}$ and of the time...

We present experimental results for the heavy-electron compound CeCu$_{4}$Ga which show that it possesses short-range magnetic correlations down to a temperature of $T = 0.1$ K. Our neutron scattering data show no evidence of long-range magnetic order occurring despite a peak in the specific heat at $T^{*} =1.2$ K. Rather, magnetic diffuse scattering occurs which corresponds to short-range magnetic correlations occurring across two unit cells. The specific heat remains large ...
